The Persian empire is fascinating. I am referring to the Achaemenid dynasty of course.

    Very interesting poll!

I like reading about the ancient Greeks and Romans, basically because that's the cradle of European civilization in the first place.

That's about it, although of course all other ancient cultures are at least somewhat interesting as well.

And oh, I have a special fascination toward the Mongol empire, for obvious reasons.

History in general interests me greatly, but If I had to pick specific civilisations in which I find much to be interested by, I'd have to say Aryan/Zoroastrian Persia, ancient Greece, Aryan/Vedic India and ancient Rome. Warring States China and the Qin dynasty are also fascinating to me.

I'm interested in most ancient empires from around the world, regardless of whether or not they are a part of my background or not. Just because I prefer my own does not mean I cannot appreciate what other cultures/empires have accomplished.

The only exceptions to my interests in ancient "empires" are "Native" Americans and the Romans.

I'm not interested in NA cultures because it's silly that they are all lumped into one category when there were so many empires within that category that were completely different from one another. Furthermore, their culture is constantly fetishized by unthinking leftists and western apologists in the USA. They killed and maimed one another just like every other "empire" on the planet - they weren't some peace-pipe-smoking hippies living communally with nature and one another.

I'm not particularly interested in the Roman empire anymore, but that's my own doing. After years of reading and watching documentaries, I am truly burnt out on the subject. Plus, I feel it has an unfair proportion of attention and influence for its historical time period.

One empire that I have been increasingly interested in are the various Chinese empires. Theirs is an old culture with seemingly endless tomes of written works. My favorite era is probably the Han Dynasty because of my parallel interests in the history of the Silk Road.

I have to say the Germans. They are a hard headed people. My wife is German and I have learned two things about them: they never give up and you don't want to make them angry.
One thing I find so interesting about these people is they seem to be naturally "Mechanically Inclined". I own a small drilling company in Oklahoma which drills for Natural Gas and Oil and out in western Oklahoma there are a lot of Mennonites and they still speak German. They where Prussians who migrated out here in the land runs. Anyway, I have hired several of them and they all can fix anything. They make great employees.
