Yes, it is, simply because I am a Germanic preservationist. That means I care about the future of all Germanics, in all lands.
Die Sonne scheint noch.
The future of my city and of Germany is important to me. Since I consider the Dutch our German brothers I vote that I'm more concerned with the future of Rotterdam. However, if the poll was between San Diego and London or another non-German city, both would be of equal (un)importance to me, as in, it doesn't really concern me as a German.
Yes, both are important as Germanic cities
What are you trying to prove with this, OEN?:
By the way San Diego isn't really a representative city of Germanic America...
It's like saying which borough is more important to nationalists in Berlin, Kreuzberg or Lichtenberg, obviously more people will choose the latter than the former.eyes:
Since neither are in my county I have to admit to not caring too much about either, however since Rotterdam is closer and has more ties to my country it would beat San Diego, the other reason here is the perception that we have of America as a multicultural society so without looking up the demographics for San Diego I would never have considered it as a Germanic city possibly because of the name also.
However quite a lot of my family live in and around San Diego so I have a vested interest there as it were. All in all I tend to stick within my own borders however unpopular that may make me here!

I have to ask too, what is the point of this poll? Let me assume... you are trying to make a point related to the discussion you had with some members in that thread about partition, repatriation, apartheid... Anyhow, Bärin has a point. The way you are presenting your options is likely to influence the voters and not get accurate results. You are using an example of an American city with a non-Germanic sounding name and an example of an European city with a Germanic sounding name. If you asked if they care about the fate of New Ulm, Minnesota, or Bismarck, North Dakota, you would probably get more "equal" answers. Oh and by the way, more votes for "No, one is more vital than the other as a Germanic city" won't prove any claim that most people on this site care more about Germanic Europe because "one" can also mean San Diego. So I don't really see how this poll helps/what point there is with it.
I won't vote. You should have also added an "other" option or been more specific about your question.Of equal importance to what/who? Of equal importance to Germanic preservation? Sure, all Germanic countries have the right to preservation, none is above the other. Of equal importance to me, personally? Of course not. I'm German born and soon to return there permanently. I'm likely to care more about the cities on my continent since that's where I'll be dwelling. If you asked my sister who prefers to stay in the US and identifies as American, she'd pick San Diego in a heartbeat.
