There can be two answers to this: a general, more ideological or philosophical one, taking into account Germanic preservation worldwide/as a whole. In that respect of course both cities are important, since both are cities from Germanic countries, where Germanic nationals live and breathe.

But from a purely subjective and personal point, of course one is more important than the other. For Europeans, it ill be Rotterdam, for (North) Americans it will be San Diego, since it's closer to home. We feel more affinity towards people and places that could play a part in our foreseeable and tangible future. And judging by the original question, it was a subjective answer that was sought from the beginning: "Is a Germanic future for both of these cities, equally important to you?" So people voted accordingly. But that does not make Germanic preservation objectively more important for one than the other.

As an American, San Diego is closer to home, however Rotterdam is also important to me as a Dutch-descended American. Although I'm sure many people see San Diego as less Germanic, probably because of the name. In terms of immigration, multiculturalism, etc., San Diego is only 58.9% white these days, but it hasn't always been that way. In the 40s it was 96.9% white, for example. But Rotterdam is also affected by the same trends. It has the highest percentage of foreigners from non-industrialised nations in the Netherlands. 50.3% of the population are of non Dutch origins or have at least one parent born outside the country. The mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, is of Moroccan descent and is a practicing Muslim.

As someone from the "Colonies", I consider our cities from the "New World" to be just as important as the older ones in Europe. In fact, I consider myself African, eventhough I am white. Europe is our ancestral land but our homelands are outside of it, and there is no shame in that. So I voted both are important.
