Is it safe to take off my metaphorical hard hat yet? LOL

I'm off for a job interview tomorrow. Due to the ever-increasing cost of living, my current job is not enough for the ultimate financial well-being of my family and I.

A position for a check-out chick has come up in the local supermarket. Not what I would normally aspire to, but there would be perks. The locality, for one thing. It's also part time and my shifts during the day would be flexible (I hope) around my current work, along with my family. It's also within a community of which I'm very familiar.

Job interviews can make or break our chances, and the interviewer will apply all their psychological know-how. I hate them as a general rule, but I have a strategy this time. I'll post at a later date to let those who are interested :p in knowing how I went.

1) When was your last interview?
2) What was the job you went for?
3) If this is your current job, what do you think made you win it?
4) If it isn't, what do you think happened in that you lost out?

1) It was 2 years ago.

2) It was a position in the advertising department of a big newspaper.

3) The only way to get a job in Greece is: acquaintances. This must have been how I beat the competition and got hired (my dad is high-ranked in the same press company).
I didn't stay in that position though. Within a month, I was internally transfered to one of their magazines and became a columnist. They thought it was a much more fitting job for me (they were right).

Well I suppose about 9 months ago but that was an internal promotion so the last real job interview was last January

Bar staff

3) If this is your current job, what do you think made you win it?

Combination of they'll hire anyone and again who you know, my best friend was already working there


Good luck, I used to be the one taking the interviews before I came back to Uni best tip, get them talking if I couldn't remember any of the answers to the questions I asked due to chat I assumed they were ok and hired!

I have a system. I listen to all the BS promises the new employer makes and he listens to mine. Then I kick back and say: I'll tell you what I'll do. I will come in and work here for 1-3 days--free. If it is what you say it is and I am what I say I am and we are both happy, then and only then I will come to work for you.

This actually works every time. The problem is that most of the time they have lied and you don't want to work there.

1) 8 months ago

2) I had previously worked in computer maintenance, but I got the less desirable and more dull position as salesman.

4) I quit after two days, they did everything in such a haphazard way and had no time to teach the internal workings of the company, besides, I was more determined to pursue my own interest.

Clerk in the sketchiest bookshop ever.

Nothing except that it was really the most disgusting place I've ever been :p

Confidence, enthusiasm, and the fact that I am intelligent - despite not having the appropriate education or qualification.
