    Songs That Make You Cry

    Which songs make you cry?

Saga - Sleep Well My Brother

Saga - Sleep Well My Brother

Over the sea, it calls to me
    Yesterdays gone, I'm all alone
The longboat it sails into the sunset
You've finally found your place to rest

    Sleep well my brother
    Do not be afraid
    I can see the valkyries
    Take me with you
    Take me so far away
    I can see the valkyries

Now you've joined the ranks of the fallen
    Carried away by Valhalla's calling
Now battle by day and feast by night
The glories you have seen come into the light

    Sleep well my brother
    Do not be afraid
    I can see the valkyries
    Take me with you
    Take me so far away
    I can see the valkyries

Now rest with the angels and rest in peace
I have picked up the standard I will release
All that you fought for and all that you loved
Watch over me brother, guide from above.

Lene Marlin - A place Nearby

Lene Marlin - A place Nearby

    I entered the room
Sat by your bed all through the night
    I watched your daily fight
    I hardly knew
The pain was almost more than I could bear
    And still I hear
    Your last words to me

    [Chorus]:
    Heaven is a place nearby
So I won't be so far away
And if you try and look for me
    Maybe you'll find me someday
    Heaven is a place nearby
So there's no need to say goodbye
I will ask you not to cry
I'll always be by your side

    You just faded away
You spread your wings, you had flown
    Away to something unknown
Wish I could bring you back
    You're always on my mind
    About to tear myself apart
You have your special place in my heart, always

    [Chorus]

And even when I go to sleep
I still can hear your voice
    And those words
    I never will forget

    [Chorus]

    Time Jesum Transeuntum

Nick Cave - Time Jesum Transeuntum
We were called to the forest... when we went down.
A wind blew warm and eloquent
We were searching for the secrets of the universe...
And we rounded up demons and forced them to tell us what it all meant
We tied 'em to trees and broke them down one by one
And on a scrap of paper, they wrote these words...
And as we read them, the sun broke through the trees...
"Dread the passage of Jesus, for he will not return."
Then we headed back to our world and left the forest behind...
Our hearts singin' with all the knowledge of love.
Then somewhere, somehow, we lost the message along the way...
And when we got home, we bought ourselves a house.
And we bought a car that we did not use...
And we bought a cage and two singing birds...
And at night we'd sit and listen to the canary's song.
For we'd both run right out of words...
Now the stars, they are all angled wrong...
And the sun and the moon refuse to burn
    But I remember a message in a demon's hand
Dread the passage of Jesus for he does not return...
    ...he does not return...
    ...he does not return...

Shape of Despair - Cursed Life

Shape of Despair - Cursed Life
    I used to feel...
I used to sense what were
    Inside of me
    To feel waves of difference
Waves which brought me to live
I enjoyed this life in me
    Breathing and feeling
    Burning and suffocating
    Didn't curse the hour
    Which gave birth to me
    Didn't curse another life
    When bearing death inside

Now all things I do bear
    Are all gone and free
    This, myself...
    Now fleeing around death
    Cursing the hour
    And another life...
Which whom I used to care
    Now...
    Watching myself
    My own life
    Fading to afar...
    Listening these voices
    And trying to tell them
That I will soon be gone

(For me... what did you really gave... life...)

    Wim Sonneveld - Het Dorp

This song was played on the funeral from my grandpa, its going about how it used to be in a village compared to the modern time.
My grandpa was always mad about how the world was changing so it reflects his view in this song, somehow everytime when i hear this song i think about my grandpa and other old people that died from my familly.

    This always does the trick

    The Seventh Seal

The original is from Scott Walker, and it's inspired by Ingmar Bergman's movie, of course

    Windir - saknet (the longing)

    Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...t&search_type=
(didnt get the embedding to work)
    Edit: Oswiu's attempt:
    Saknet

Mørke spaigla mine kjainsle, men da e ait hål i spaiggedl.
Ait hål so ikkje enda, akkorat so sakne i sjeli mi.
Håle e so sakne i sjeli mi. Sakne e so håle, endelaust...
Sakne itte nåke inårmt so eg hadde, da eg hadde va lika stort so sakne,
inårmt... Eg lika smerte, men eg lika ra igentle ikkje...
Eg skrike, men eg skrike igentle ikkje...
Eg dåyr, men eg dåyr igentle ikkje...
Eg sakna... Fø meg e mørke so dagen fø deg å ri andre.
Fø meg e dagen so mørke fø deg å ri andre.
Fø meg e skrike so lattern fø deg å ri andre.
Fø meg e dauen so live fø deg å ri andre.
Dystert da e, å tainkja slik, dystert da e, å vera slik,
dystert da e, å liva slik, dystert da e, eg lika ra slik...
Dystert e ra å dystert ska ra vera. Mørt e ra å mørt ska ra vera.
Ont e ra å ont ska ra vera. Sakne e rar, men da ska rar ikkje vera...
Smerte, no lika e'ra... Skrik, no skrike eg...
Dau, no dåyr eg... Sakn, eg sakna reg...
Eg dåyr fø'ra eg sakna... Å eg sakna itte dauen..

A quick translation for saknet by me:

The darkness is mirroring my feelings, but there is a hole in the mirror.
A hole that dosnt end, just like the longing in my soul.
The hole is like the longing in my soul. The longing is the hole, unending...
The longing after something enormous which I had, that which I had was as big as the longing.
Im screaming, but im not really screaming...
Im dying, but im not really dying...
I long... For me the darkness is like the day for you and the others.
For me to scream is like the laughter for you and the others.
For me death is like life for you and the others.
Gloomy is it, to think this, gloomy is it, to be like this.
Gloomy is it, to live like this, gloomy this is, I like it this way...
Gloomy is it, and gloomy it shall be.
Painful it is, and painful it shall be. Gloomy it is, and gloomy it shall be.
That what one shouldnt do, is what I long for the most.
That what one shouldnt say, is what I long for the most, you understand what I mean,
that is which I long for the most.
That which I must have hurt will not better in the coming years.
It has just been painful, and the longing has been hard.
Pain, now I like you, scream, now I scream...
Death, for now i'm dying, longing, I long for you...
I die for what I long, and I dont long for death.

    Helheim - En Forgangen Tid
    http://download.yousendit.com/73D825E355B506CB

[English translation:] (not translated by me)

    [A bygone time]

    Our metaphysical reality is lost
The gods are a dead myth in mans life
    Stand as evhemeristic symbols
no longer as a milestone in our hearts
Man has deared the way for rethinking
a slaves and the unworthy’s foolishness
Shall we forget and let it be
    a bygone time?

    Beck - Lost Cause

    Beck - Lost Cause

Your sorry eyes, they cut through bone.
They make it hard to leave you alone.
Leave you here wearing your wounds
Waving your guns at somebody new.

    Baby Im a lost
    Baby Im a lost
    Baby Im a lost cause.

Theres too many people you used to know
They see you coming they see you go.
They know your secrets and you know theirs
This town is crazy, but nobody cares.

    Baby Im a lost
    Baby Im a lost
    Baby Im a lost cause.
    Im tired of fighting
    Im tired of fighting
    Fighting for a lost cause

Theres a place where you are going
    You aint never been before
Theres no one laughing at your back now
No one standing at your door
Is that what you thought love was for?

    Baby Im a lost
    Baby Im a lost
    Baby Im a lost cause
    Im tired of fighting
    Im tired of fighting
    Fighting for a lost cause.

    Saga - The Snow Fell

    Saga - The Snow Fell

    He sat in a room
in a square of the color of blood.
    He'd rule the whole world
if there was a way that he could.
    He'd sit and he'd stare
at the minreds on top of the towers.
    For he was a beast
as he hatched his new plans to gain power.

    (chorus)
    And the snow fell
    covering the dreams and ideals.
    And the snow fell
freezing the blood and the wheels.
    And the snow fell
they had to keep up for survival.
    And the snow fell
    defeating the beast's only rival.

    They took the old roads
    that Napoleon had taken before.
They fought as a force as a light
against the darkness in a holy war.
One day they were looking around
and the sun was shining on the cold flowers.
The next day they were freezing to death
in the sleet and the ice cold showers.

    (chorus)

    Then came the deadly roads
back from the stairs of their retreat.
    The cold racked their bodies
but worse was the pain of defeat.
Many people who had hailed them once
    now turned and looked away.
    These people now knew
that the beast was on it's way.

    (chorus)

    You finally came back
to the borders of your fatherland.
    Now enemies came
    traitors everywhere at hand.
Many people who had fought and died
knowing that they had to win.
    It still sickens my heart
to see the picture of the red flag in Berlin.

Haris Alexiou - Apopse Thelo Na Pio

    Lyrics' translation:

    I want to drink tonight
    so as nothing to remember
I want to trap myself in smoke
    and fear no consequences

    I want to drink tonight
    and surpass my limits
I want to confess my lost dreams
    covered in smoke's veil

I'll light up with cigarettes and burn out with liquor
    Now that I've taken fright
    may everything turn into ashes

    I want to drink tonight
    erase everything and everyone
I want to disappear in smoke
    and look back never again

    Rammstein - Seeman

    Komm in mein Boot
    ein Sturm kommt auf
    und es wird Nacht

    Wo willst du hin
    so ganz allein
    treibst du davon

    Wer hält deine Hand
    wenn es dich
    nach unten zieht

    Wo willst du hin
    so uferlos
    die kalte See

    Komm in mein Boot

    Komm in mein Boot
    die Sehnsucht wird
    der Steuermann

    Komm in mein Boot

    die Zeit steht still
    und mir ist kalt

    Translation:
    Seaman

    Come in my boat
    a storm is rising
    and it is becoming night

Where do you want to go
    so completely alone
    you are drifting away

    Who holds your hand
    when it pulls
    you under

Where do you want to go
    so boundless
    the cold sea

    Come in my boat
    the autumn wind holds
    the sails taut

Now you are standing by the lantern
    with tears in your face
the daylight falls on the side
the autumn wind sweeps the streets clear

Now you are standing by the lantern
you have tears in your face
the evening light chases away the shadows
time stands still and it becomes autumn

    Come in my boat
    the helmsman
    feels longing

    Come in my boat
    the best seaman
    was I

Now you are standing by the lantern
you have tears in your face
you take the fire from the candle
time stands still and it becomes autumn

They only spoke of your mother
only the night is so merciless
at the end I am left alone
    time stands still
    and I am cold
