Global Opinion Poll: Germany Tops List, Israel at the Bottom

    http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/s...Ct%20%22_blank

London - Germany tops a poll of countries gauged for the positive influence they have on world affairs, results said Wednesday - while the United States improved, and Israel and Iran stay bottom. The poll, conducted for the BBC World Service, showed an average 56 per cent of over 17,000 asked in 34 countries had a positive view of Germany - the highest percentage.

Iran and Israel were viewed most negatively. Negative views of Iran's influence remained at 54 per cent. But Israel's negative rating went down from 57 per cent to 52 per cent. Pakistan was the third most poorly rated country.

Another one: Europeans view Germany as leader of Europe
    http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/04/04/europe/poll.php

When asked what country is the leader of Europe today, a majority of Germans, perhaps unsurprisingly, picked Germany: 57 percent, the same figure as among Spaniards. Among the French, that figure rose to an astonishing 68 percent. The Italians and British were divided on the question between Germany and Britain.

On the other side of the Atlantic, 63 percent of Americans saw Britain as Europe's leading nation.

The poll showed widespread opposition to the very concept of a European president, much less combining the roles of the two future presidencies. While opposition did not reach a majority in any country, Britons were most opposed, at 46 percent, while Italians were the least, at 14 percent.

America sends 80 Billion a year to Israeli pockets and what do they have to show for it? No railroad system, no skyscrapers, just a wasteland and a warzone. There are patriots who hold steadfast to their country there but many of the Israelis you will speak to will tell you they want out.

I don´t think that it´s so positive that Germany is ranked first in the list. We must look at the reasons why Germany is seen so positive. Is it because the other countries love Germany so much for being German? Not really - at least not primarly.

Is it because Germany is spending (politically overcorrect) so much money around the world without demanding much back? Yes, it is! Germans are always welcome - if they open their purse.

(Like in the EU conflict some years ago. England and France had an argument about the sum of their contribution to the EU etat. The argument ended when German chancellor Merkel promised that Germany will pay the incremental costs. eyes: )

As I have said before Valk' there's always a reason for these mysterious polls, studies and lists put out by the news. Like a study or a census report even counts as news! It's certainly not a current event now is it? Strange...

Oh, come on. One stay in München and you feel nothing but love for Germany and the Germans. A tidy and orderly place filled with easygoing nice people.
