By comparing surveys of various age groups taken over a span of more than 30 years, sociologists found that in general, Americans' opinions veer toward the liberal as they grow older.

"All the evidence we have found refutes the idea that as people age their attitudes become more conservative or more rigid," said Nicholas Danigelis, a sociologist at the University of Vermont. "It's just not true. More people are changing in a liberal direction than in a conservative direction."

People might find an average 60-year-old to be more conservative than an average 30-year-old, Danigelis said, but beware of extrapolating a trend. The older person, for example, might have started off even more conservative than he or she is now.

Old people of today seem to care about their own comfort more than anything else.

I think I should take some credit for coining the expression "old people of today". They are probably the most effectively brain-washed generation so far.

It's not surprising. A 60-year-old came of age during the hippy era of the 60s. They are now at the point were they are romanticizing that era. 30-year-olds on the other hand have spent their lives dealing with the economic & social wreckage left over from the most self-indulgent worthless group of people in the history of Western Civilization.

60-year-olds are also nearing retirement, which means they are becoming more liberal (meaning socialistic in the American use of the word) in regards to tax policies & entitlements. They want to be taken care of in style in their old age & don't care if bankrupts the succeeding generations. 30-year-olds know they are never going to collect social security or medicare benefits.

As everyone becomes more liberal the world becomes worse. Perhaps they'll write an article noting that some day.
