It depends on what criteria you judge this. There has been no major conflict in Western Europe for around 65 years. That is a long period of peace. Governments and people have never been more environmentally aware. Minorities are no longer pointlessly imprisoned. Food has never been more plentiful. European nations meddle less overseas than they have done before. From a preservationist POV, things are messed up.

But most people don't care about that, and see the modern world as functioning mostly OK, save for the usual laundry list of gripes (commercialisation, plight of Palestinians, climate change, etc). There are not really any angry, politically-engaged masses in the UK, for example. That would suggest most people are happy with their lot, or at least the opportunities in life available to them.

You have misinterpreted my words. No where did I say anyone was being blindly hateful, but that the type of criticism of America being put forth in this thread is about as equivolent to remarks of blind hatered in quality and nature. Your criticisms are not constructive criticisms or useful criticisms, but are destructive criticisms. This is of no advantage at all and it quite easily can be mistaken for anti-Americanism.

YES. I'm critical of my people because I am TIRED of the gutless, prideless bastards in my country. My country has been destroyed not only from the outside by the Allied scum but also from the inside by the multicultural, xenophilic, treacherous scum. It is the same over here, but... we have always a good excuse... we can always bring forward that we lost. But you? How do you explain this? You are a winner! Didn't you know?

So, what is the difference between the 'modern' and the 'ancient' UK? And when in time did the ancient turn into the modern?

And what was the reason for the change? From the good to the bad?

Was there a 'middle' UK? Half good, half bad?

And what do you mean 'the culture'? You mean the food? Well, I think the food is something very stable. It takes centuries to change. That is: the British food must have been so since a long time. It wouldn't help to go back 300 years.

Or do you mean the manners? That you must address each and everyone with 'you' is detrimental to the feeling for distance, which is essential for any culture? Well, the 'you' actually was the polite form, the higher register. So, that means, by addressing each and everyone with 'you', most of the people originally were upgraded. And that, in itself, is actually a good thing, if it is meant seriously.

Also, that British people don't shake hands actually is a good thing. It considerably reduces the risk of contagion in influenza season.

What I want to say is: for each and every component of 'modern' British culture you can find, albeit after some contemplation, a 'reasonable' justification, or at least an excuse. So, what is it that finally makes British culture so... unlikeable??

No the culture is not just the bland food. It is the repugnant values, such as "playing things by the book". The culture is Americanised and apathetic at its root. Its morality is especially hypocritical and nought but an excuse for non-judgement and inaction, at least till the next nonsense hysteria comes along. This mix of hysterics and apathy is how the UK became a police state suffering more pointless surveillance than in so-called dictatorships. Where, incidentally, there is much more free speech.

There is no public feeling of connection to a volk: this is why British cuisine has no counterpart to French or Italian cooking. Today in Peru I was greeted by folk musicians, who were playing traditional songs in Spanish. Such an experience is unheard of in England where heritage is something that exists in history books. Even at the level of popular culture and its guilty pleasures, I dislike the offerings of England and her people's preferences. The public's taste in video games for example is restricted to murder simulators, GTA and chav games such as FIFA. Everything British is between things that are merely alienating and those that are outright repugnant. As you might know, the reason I do not drink alcohol is to avoid becoming English, and to avoid socialising with the English.

For all my life I have been living in that prison and a meddling government will not even grant me the dignity of being jailed abroad: no, they will intercede against my wishes, to exile me back to Britain, unless I get citizenship elsewhere (impossible).

To be in England there is no sense of a better future. The country hates its youth mind you it hates its elderly and vulnerable as well. Expressions of English patriotism are invariably boorish, loud and intimidating to behold - I feel intimidated when I meet British patriots with their national flag. Maybe this is a distrust of drunken football supporters, as these are people who only care at football timewhen the drinks are out, and they worship the negro "Englishmen" on the pitch as "one of our blacks". Although many of such people profess to oppose political correctness, their foreigner worship makes them useful idiots of the sort would fight willingly to protect British liberalism from fascism - some of them are actually proud of this. Should hope spring from the continent, British patriots would line up to extinguish it. Though I am unquestionably far right, I am certain that I am not like patriots.

Race not nation. And a thousand flags not just one. And a wider heritage than dead end England.

What foreigners think is irrelevant unless you first feel inferior yourself. And Germany and Austria are nowhere near as surveilled as the UK, a state where people may be jailed for making fun of car crashes, and pro-life activists are fined without even the right to present evidence.
