    Boy or Girl

Should parents be able to choose the sex of their child?

I say no, because it changes up whats meant to be.

In many countries parents do choose which sex to keep, with the abortion rate for girl babies beeing much higher than that for boys, especially areas such as India where the financial cost of girls is much higher than that of a boy and the social status that having sons entails is high. A work collegue of mine in Blackburn UK which has a very high Indian/Pakistani population was told that they couldn't tell her the sex of her unborn child for this very reason.

PS I never answered the question did I oops, no they shouldn't be able to pick, unless there is a genetic disease that is only carried by one sex then the case would have to be looked at more closely

No. Perhaps only in cases where population control is required. But still, how many babies must one abort before they get the "right" gender?

Sure why not. I find it odd that societies that allow abortion-on-demand would get screamish because some persons would do it to determine the sex of their children. Are we suppose to tell someone who has 4 children of the same sex, trying for a child of the opposite sex that no they can't do that. We allow abortion because of genetic defects & that is considered a perfectly valid excuse. We allow it because the mother simply can't be bothered to carry the fetus to fullterm. But to do for an altruistic reason like the mother doesn't want a child of a particular sex... it just completely buffles me that the pro-abortion lobby would support abortion-on-demand with the exception of sex-selection.

Sex-selection abortion is actually good for Germanics & Europids. It is among non-Europid societies where sex-selection abortion is practiced with few exceptions. It is extremely rare for Europeans or (White)Americans to do this. Over the longterm aborting female fetuses will cause a population decline among those populations that practice it, because there will be a shortage of women to give birth to the next generation.

What upsets people about sex-selection abortion is that it is nearly always female fetuses that are aborted because of sex-selection abortion. Somehow I don't think the lefties would get upset if it were male fetuses being aborted (conservatives generally disapprove of abortion & tinkiering with nature in this matter).

Women who are impregnated by invitro can select the sex of the embryos inplanted.

I don't approve of abortion-on-demand, but if a society is going to allow it, women will take advantage of it for trivial reasons like sex-selection.

I don't like the idea, but not enough on its own to warrant telling others how to live their lives. I am opposed however, because i think it will push society further into the direction of playing god. This year its make it a boy, next year its make it a boy who will stand 6'3, have perfect blue eyes and an IQ of 170, with an aptitude for math and engineering. Thats when the problems will start.

There is a natural gender balance, which will be upset if we allow parents to select the gender of their children.
