IPod Has Become a Cultural Phenomenon ?

Do you think iPod has become a cultural phenomenon ? I think it is, but it's not my intention to offend those who really adores their ipods, but it's just weird or maybe I'm too weird thinking this matter.

The iPod has been a cultural phenomenon for years. When you see entire families plugged into their own individual ipods on public transportation, it's safe to say it's had some impact on us. An ipod almost simulates complete isolation, not much outside noise can get past those earbuds.

Yes... however the real story is how in such a turbulent market as consumer electronics, where the leader is toppled every few months, the iPod has remained in front. I put it down to ease of use of the player, and the excellent iTunes software. I've tried other players like the Creative Zen, and they're horrible to use.

I'm now on my 7th iPod, a 16gb Touch. I'll probably get the 16gb iPhone at some point.

There is something insufferably pretentious about the Apple image/marketing machine. And products like the ultra slim MacBook are dubious. But the iPod is something which they've got so right :o

I only saw Ipods on Internet Site Advertisings since Years. But i don't get whats so great about it. A normal MP3 Player does it aswell.
I don't even need an MP3 Player, because i got one in my Car. The IPod Hype is just as annoying as the Myspace-Hype.

iTunes is terrible, why anyone would use it over Winamp is beyond me (I put it down to pure ignorance).

iPods are okay at best, I certainly wouldn't buy another one though. I used to own a 4th generation one along with my friend from High School, both of ours broke, except she went through another one after that. Most common source of the problem: Poorly made hard drives. Right now I'm "borrowing" someone else's video iPod, indefinitely :p

Software and capabilities are nothing special, they just seem to be unlocking something every generation so they can sell it off. I've played around custom software for it which is, in my opinion, much better than the default, but unfortunately buggy at times. For what you're getting from an iPod, you can get much cheaper from another brand, and with custom software such as Rockbox you can do even more.

iPods are a lot like Macs, they play off consumers ignorance and hype themselves up as the cool, slick thing to buy. Unfortunately, like macs, they also share the same bloated pricing.

I have never used IPod, instead I am a fan of the Creative-mp3's. Well, not a fan, but I know they are of great quality, and they are easy to use.

Besides, I really can't stand Itunes, especially when I got Windows Media Player, which is the best. And Creative aren't as expencive as Ipods.

    I just don't approve of Macintosh's stuff.
