A Shame noone will stand up the muslims. I think id be right in saying that theres probably been incidents like this happen all over britian.

I Notice "cultural diversity" only applies to Muslims. Any other group would have been silenced.

    Probably nothing.

The stories in the Telegraph are there to incite racial hatred ,imo.

I compromise could be a Jewish campanologist , dressed as a Christian bishop , who has a mega-phone to call the Muslims to prayer whilst ringing the bells. Then all the Abrahamics can share the blame for noise pollution.

In Dublin there is already a mosque on the south circular road and they blast a call to prayer five times a day over a loud speaker, and yes the area has become a Muslim Getto, I should know I lived across the street from it for three years...

What I never understood was why they couldn't just content themselves with playing it over the radio? Then any muslim who wanted to hear it could, and the non-muslims who didn't (the majority) wouldn't have to be subjected to it five times a day.

    Bells??

    Cyfarchion

I agree that it will be the ultimate insult if this calling to prayer were allowed. I can't understand why the muslims seem to forget when the service is. Surely they all have a watch?? They shouldn't need calling to prayer.

I know why the christians are ok with this (I mean the church rather than the grass roots people because I suspect there is considerable difference of opinion on this). If they come down against the muslim wailing then it is only right that noone should have to put up with those annoying bells which are effectively the same thing. Ban all of them.

It's good to see that the conversation in this thread has included noisy christians callings to worship. Why? Because I don't think the paper who published the original article would appreciate its recent meander.

Its aim ( imho ) was to raise the flame that burns under the immigration/Muslims saucepan , currently simmering away on stoves in all the nations of Europe .

It's a powderkeg and will not be helped by sensationalist irresponsible unbalanced journalists that dominate the mainstream madia , the term "Journalist " flatters them , pied pipers of public opinion might be more apt :p.

If we ,ordinary people , ( if you are extraordinary look away now )want to get nearer the truth about what is going on in the corporate takeover of the planet , we shouldn't believe the mainstream madia , imo , and try to follow the big stories that are absent ( in the main ) from it. How many articles are concerned with the militarization of space ? It is far more important than whether there are one or two noisy religious callings drifting on the breeze over Oxford.

So many people going on about people's rights today.... well what about the right to peace and quiet!?

As far as I'm concerned having this blaring across an area is akin to taking away people's basic right of peace and quiet.

(I'm also in favour of making it totally illegal to install big subwoofers and loud stereos in vehicles.)

I hate all this damn noise and I'm so glad I don't live in a city now.

    -------------------

Apart from it being just a sound pollution thing, it is also projecting a religious propaganda to those who do not want it or believe it.

Would muslims want a Christian singing out Christian ideas across the neighbourhood that they would have to listen to? I highly doubt it! A few church bells on Sunday is hardly the same thing as lengthy religious ideas being sung multiple times every day.
