Since I decided to carry my Glock 23 in .357 SIG conversion mode, I thought it prudent to replace the fixed rear sight with the same kind of adjustable sight that is on my competition/tactical Glock 35 pistol. Reason being that the original Glock 23 fixed sights are set to accomodate heavier and slower .40 S&W ammo. Lighter, and faster .357 SIG ammo tends to have a lower POI at normal combat pistol ranges. The fully adjustable sights will correct this problem.

The magazines depicted in the photo (from left to right) are 13 round, 15 round, and 22 round.

The ammo I choose to use for PD is Remington 125 grain bonded GSHP.

This is my Glock 23 in its original .40 S&W configuration, but with a ported 5" Lone Wolf aftermarket barrel that utilizes broach cut rifling rather than Glock's hexagonal cut rifling.

I also replaced the fixed rear sight with an adjustable sight to compensate for the different POI caused by using different bullet weights and switching from .40 to .357 SIG.

My 135 grain Nosler JHP handloads performed quite well at 45'.

The Magtech 155 grain JHP factory ammo also performed quite well at 30', even though my faulty trigger control caused it to string... Have to work on this problem.

For those law-abiding citizens who are prevented from owning and carrying firearms, there remains the useful option of air/Co2 'arms', which, in America anyway, are not classified as firearms by the ATF, although State laws might differ in various ways.

To study the various aspects of external and terminal ballistic properties using different air/Co2 arms and an assortment of 'ammo' to conduct my backyard experiments that I can't legally perform with firearms in our suburban residential location, I employ a variety of test mediums and a chronograph.

I bought this on Sunday and brought it home yesterday after the required three day un-Constitutional restriction to your 2nd Amendment rights.

Rock Island Armory 1911 A2 FS HC, otherwise known as just 'The Rock' This is a dual stack monster in 10mm that approaches .41 magnum ballistics. Holds 17 rounds and the firearm onlz comes with one mag. I'm not too upset about that; if you can't do the job with one or two rounds of 10mm you have bigger problems than not having another magazine.

This afternoon I field stripped it, cleaned it, inspected it, re-lubed, and re-assembled. I haven't fired it yet as I'm still waiting on AAFES to ship my ammo, and I'm not going to waste my Underwood defence ammo at the range.

I also adjusted the trigger over-travel stop, and it feels very good now. I don't have a trigger scale, but I'm thinking between five and six crisp pounds with no creep or slop. Very positive safety engagement, bull barrel, adjustable Novak mount sights made in Italy, ambi-safeties, thin grips, mag well, but best of all, 10mm DUAL STACK.

I was hesitant at first with friend's prior experience with Rock Island 20 years ago, but they have come a long way since then. This is a quality manufactured and designed product and I can't find a bad word on the internet about these firearms. There was one chap who had magazine problems, but that was all I found.

This is not a small pistol, nor is it light. The frame and slide are both steel and because it is a double stack, with a loaded magazine it clocks in at almost four pounds. I thought my 4006 was heavy I used to carry for duty. That 4006 has nothing on the Rock.

I just purchased a SIG PRO 2022 .40 S&W DA/SA pistol, along with four additional magazines (for now ), a .357 SIG barrel, and Tru-Glow fiber optic three dot sights.

It's a buyer's market on .40S&W right now. Police departments are going back to the 9mm in droves. Good for us. IIRC, that was SIG-Sauer's first polymer handgun way back in '97 or so.
