Let us not forget the last two works of Burzum, even though its meagre sounds are not to everyone's taste.

I can also recommend Temnozor and some works of Nokturnal Mortum plus the early albums of Enslaved.

    Perunwit(ambient/folk) is my favourite, though.

I would have to say Burzum's last albums have been works of art and beautiful tributes to his people by Varg. I wonder when he gets out of prison... But anyway, pagan music you don't hear much of anymore mediaeval baebes did do beautiful songs...still do! I NEED SOME MORE PAGAN BAND NAMES PLEASE

'German boy, do not forget you are a German,' and, 'Little girl, remember you are to become a German mother.'

I like Pagan/Folk NSBM, but that pretty much is pagan already to begin with.

As a great fan of Slavonic Heathen bands, I recommend:

Severnye Vrata [eng. Northern Gates] from Russia (folk metal)
Butterfly Temple from Byelorussia (great symphonic folk metal)
Gods Tower from Russia (great folk/progressive/heavy metal)
Kulgrinda from Lithuania (true Lithuanian pagan folk songs performed by an awesome folk choir)

Unleashed are a great Asatru death metal band, but their latest, Hell's Unleashed is kinda crappy.

Blood Axis are a great band, whatever the hell genre it is, Blot: Live in Sweden is an excellent disc.

Bathory released a few great Viking Metal albums, Blood Fire Death, Hammerheart, Twilight of the Gods, and Blood on Ice. Nordland 1&2 came out more recently, and they're good cds, but lack the magic of previous efforts, IMHO.

Also, Volfenkreuz are a great Pagan band from Poland, they're pretty wierd, with elements of folk and (I guess) Black Metal with some of the most amazing drumming I've ever heard, kind of tribal sounding. It's great atmospheric stuff, very Heathen sounding, for lack of a better word. I definitely recommend their cd Vulfhymnen.

    Post Re: Pagan music?

Despite what some people on this board will say about In Extremo, I think they are amazing. Some of their songs are Pagan, some are Catholic. They perform with electric guitars, bagpipes, harp and violins. Songs are in Norwegian, German, Gallego, Portuguese and Latin. I have 3 of their albums and I play them on my bi weekly temporary radio show all the time.

Their music makes me want to get up and march for Europe.
