Athens, around 350 BC. I'd love to meet Aristotle.

    Also:
    Venice, around 17th century
    Victorian England, 19th century
    USA, 17th century
    France, 16th century
Habsburg Empire (especially Austria), 19th century. Then I could meet Carl Menger, and maybe even study under him.

I can't say anything after (and including) the 20th century, even if there are individuals I'd like to have met then.

My first thoughts would be either Anglo-Saxon England during the conquest or Norway at the height of the viking period. That whole Germanic-Viking-Barbarian ideal strikes a very deep cord with me which i find hard to explain.

Roaring over the plains of eastern Europe and western Asia as an Indo-European - killing those who challenged me, and ruthlessly mocking the languages of those who didn't - wouldn't be a bad life either.

Come to think of it, even going back to the hunter-gatherer days would have had a lot going in it's favour.

You missed out England during the late 9th century, which would have been just in time for Alfred the great and the Danish wars.

-Britain, as a Royal Navy midshipman or lieutenant during the Napoleanic wars, preferably aboard the HMS Victory at the battle of Trafalgar, 1805

-America, during the pre-Revolutionary period, in my town (extremely interesting to listen to how the villagers think about their current state as colonists), approx. 1750s

-France, during the 100 Years War, to see Medieval society and culture in its most developed form. It is the country that is most studied for the Medieval period due to how much more information there is from there than anywhere else in Europe, ~1350 after the Plague has cleared

-Iceland, during the time of my namesake, Erik the Red, 980AD

-Feudal Japan, during the Shogun wars, around 1200

-Britain, under King Richard I of the Lionheart (Couer de Lion) during the Third Crusade, starting in 1191 in Cyprus

-Roanoke Colony, Virginia, to find out what the hell happened to those colonists, 1590

    -Athens, Greece, 4th cent. BC

-I would also have to say during the time of the war between the tribes of Gaul and the Roman Empire, but I can't decide on which side I would be on..

There is to many to state, but:

-To witness the first Ape descending the tree and adapting and surviving to the perils of the savannah.

-To see the rise of Man and witness firsthand his dominance over his surroundings.

-About the region of Egypt to really account for who the Egyptains were :p

    -The building of the Stonehenge.
Who were the people who planned, moved and executed such an elaborate design?
What language did they speak and were they ancestors to my family lines today?

-I would like to stand on the hills of Rome and witness the rise, and fall,of the greatest empire, ever.

-Stand at Thermopylae and understand the bravery of King Leonidas and his men.

-Watch the great Vercingetorix concede defeat in the most noblest way that any hot, blooded male can.
To watch the smile of Caesar as he finally beats the thorn in his side.

-Watching the Mongols galloping over the hills in their vast numbers.
Feeling the ground beneath your very feet tremble at the mass of men and horses which approach.

-To see the unification of the Britons against the assaults of the Germanics to the south, the Irish to the West and the Picts to the the north.
To witness the man,or men, which have taken the legendary mantle of 'the bear' or Arthur.

-The unification of the English against the marauding 'Vikings'

-The conquest of England by the 'Bastard'.
Seeing Harold receiving his deathblow in battle and the decline of the Saxon shield wall at the death of their leader.

There is so much to witness in the European, and the world's, history, that i wish i could state them all.
But as for choosing a specific era to live and settle within: It would have to be this era;the 2000's.
We have everything we ever wish for and everything that our ancestors have fought and strived to achieve.

We just need to unify as a race and fight our corner....just as our forefathers did before us.
We will never have the chance to see our people succeed so again if we do not strive to love our present, and future,as we do our past.

-Iron age Europe, in Ireland, Britain, or Germania. Life back then wasn't easy, but it certainly was more ideal, meaningful and fulfilling in my opinion than the lives which the current media tries to promote.

-America before the U.S. started to expand west. I have always admired men like Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone and would have loved to have been a hunter, adventurer, explorer, Indian fighter, etc. since I love the outdoors so much. I'm also an admirer of nature and would have loved to have seen the untamed wilderness before it was cleared and built up. (that's why the Last of the Mohicans movie has always been a favorite of mine)

The Battle of Troy - want to know who were the real heroes.

Pre-Roman era Celt in Britain or Ireland.

A Varangian in the service of Rurik when he established his Nordic dynasty in the steppes.

My answer seems simple, also I do not know as much as history as you guys.., and if I did I am not sure if it would change my answer.

I would like to been born around 1930 in the US, putting me at about 20 in 1950. I always like the idea of the 1950's.

When a loaf of bread cost 14 cents, you could leave your door unlocked, rebellion was born :p, racial tension was flaring, Elvis was the teenager heart throb, and people seemed genuinely better.

Oh, and of coarse Lucille Ball was making it big! Women seemed more whole hearted, family was 1st, and there weren't so many annoying trends for women compared to now.
"We've become a nation of strangers. There seems to be very little in common to bond us to our fellow Americans outside of our immediate families, some don't even have that to fall back on."
