And all of this is a gigantic mistake. I think that we should show no bit of tolerance for a religion/ideology full of intolerance. They dislike or even hate us, so why do we give them so much opportunities to expand? *sigh*
We should demand full integration or nothing.
Neither assimilation nor integration will solve the problems. The only thing that would work from my point of view would be seperation. And this seperation should be done on a global level, not on a communal level. The western countries here, the islamic countries there. And a very tall border between the two worlds please.

The lower of the two evils would be "assimilation", anyway.

For me, it would depend on the other party--I wouldn't have a problem with the assimilation of certain groups (say there was an influx of Scotish or Danish people into my area) but if it was some Somali resettlement effort....well, I'd just as soon see them stick to themselves and us, to ourselves which I guess is multiculturalism.

Multiculturalism, because assimilating foreign elements is the worst, it's like continuously putting sugar in your tea until it becomes unbearable to drink and it's impossible to remove it because it has become dissolved. I hear "German Turks" are hated in Turkey because they're not Turkish enough. It's more difficult to repatriate the foreigners if they blend in with us, get native wives, mixed children and so on.
    THINK! It's not illegal yet.

The lesser of the two evils is multiculturalism. Assimilation would probably mean the impossibility of removing them later on .

True multiculturalism would have to be the lesser evil in this case. Forcing or imposing our culture on others is not the most successful model. As we see, it leads to conflicts between different cultures. It also makes it more difficult to deport criminals, for instance, as they argue they are already well integrated in our culture and can no longer fit in their country of origin.

On the other hand, we also shouldn't have the obligation to provide them with culture-specific places where they can practice it, if they want to have such places, they shall build them themselves, not from the taxpayer's pocket, please.

Of course, we have to put our foot down when it comes to things like violence or rape. If their culture contains something that specifically breaks our laws, then we cannot have it.
