    Post Famous Ancestors

Be honest here, no making stuff up in order to "look good" LOL. I would prefer you keep this to direct ...ancestors. And aunts, uncles and cousins in the past oh say... 4-6 generations.
    "Famous" meaning:
    1. world wide fame
    2. national fame
    3. local fame (ie famous in your state, county, city)
    4. political
    5. royal
    6. military
    etc...
Also, please include your relationship to the person. If it is family legend, please state that it is such.

Whether this looks good is a matter of opinion, but according to my late mother, her father was an SS officer from Bavaria who fled to Spain in 1945, where he met my (Galician-Spanish) grandmother.

My mother is a direct descendent of William the Conquerors Nephew, Robert de Grosvenor who was one of the Norman invaders into England and the First Earl of Grosvenor.

My father told me that I was related to the poet Archibald Lampman, but I don't know if there is any truth to that.

    Other then that ... I don't know.

My great-grandfather-in law was a nobleman from the Ukraine and personally knew Czar Nicholas II. During the Civil War he fought with the Whites and later emigrated to America.

    Post Re: Famous Ancestors

I'll have to write out a list before I post them all. I was told that my father's grandmother's greatgrandfather was a famous musician in England. She didn't tell him who though. Dagnabit! I'm missing 2 of her greatgrandfathers. The other two I have are James Henry Nichols Sr and William Sloan/Slone.

I'll just post this as I go along. I'm working on a "direct descendants only" version of my family tree.

Through his daughter Gunhilda Sveynsdottir, who married Ranulph De Manning, King of Denmark: Sveyn Haraldsson aka Forkbeard is my 27th greatgrandfather. Ya'll can research that line via a search engine. I'm not typing all that out. Lol.

    Post Re: Famous Ancestors

I Don't have any famous ancestors, but I couldn't care less what my ancestors did anyway. I would rather build my own accomplishments, then latch on to what some of my relatives did in the past. Some of my relatives are very rich though, but not famous.

Given that much of this site is given over to an exploration of ancestors, both historically and genetically, it would appear you have landed in the wrong place.

Nobody here is trying to gain credibility because of their famous ancestors, from what I can see. They are just indulging the thread.

So perhaps you have latched on to them a little more than you think

Look I just think this "ancestor worship" is stupid, that doesn't mean I don't care about the future of Western society or our race though. This being "proud of your race" is nonsense, I did nothing to get or obtain it. We don't need to be racial supremacists or ancestor worshippers to realize the importance of race in the modern world. We can study European history, genetics, etc without worshipping people just because they happen to belong to the same race. Let me say again I don't specfically mean this site, but SF or VNN for instance indulge in "White accomplishments" like they had something to do with it.

Nobody here is trying to gain credibility because of their famous ancestors, from what I can see. They are just indulging the thread.

Well maybe I meant this in the wider perspective like latching on to a "race" to give people self worth. Too many people in our movement act like they are "superior" just because they happened to be born white. I feel no "pride" being born white, anymore than I feel proud to be an american.

So perhaps you have latched on to them a little more than you think
