    Ordination of Women

Should women be allowed to become pastors?

(Answer "Yes" if you think that only men should be ordained)

Because all Catholics are against the ordination of women anyway this poll is reserved to members of Protestant churches.

All orthodox protestants who take a high view of scripture must also agree to vote against women "excercising authority over a man", hence they cannot on grounds of the Verbal ministerium of protestants who hold to Sola Scriptura, or the Romish majesterium of the RC, be ordained or regularly called. This is because of both original sin and the express appointment by God through his word that the man shall be the head of the woman as also Christ is the head of His church. Ordination of women has only happened in liberal "churches", only since the 1960s, as they fall down the slippery slope of the low view of Scripture and succumb to the worldly religion of humanism and social activism and "church growth strategies". Christ did not practice such strategies when he said "unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you cannot be saved": most of his followers left him then.

I would emphasize that this is not a matter of women being less capable: indeed they may often be as or more capable; but it remains that God has not said that they may exercise authority over a man, but has forbidden it; this is because woman was taken out of man, as Paul reminds us; and because of the Fall in Eden. Therefore let all those who have sinned by ordaining women falsely, and let all women who have sinned by receiving this false ordination and by teaching in a regularly called office in the church repent and trust in Christ as the only means of forgiveness of all their sins, including their clear sins of profaning of God's name and desping of his holy Word. Return and faithfully hear the Holy Word and humbly obey Christ's teachings.

There are liberal Catholics who are in favor of women priests (I'm not Catholic btw). But I am opposed. Protestant churches that have female clergy also adopt all sorts of liberal idealogy including gay clergy & the blessing of same-sex unions. And female clergy are generally feminists who are more interested in political-correct & multicultural issues then in traditional Christian values.

I think that neither women nor homosexuals should be permitted to become priests.

There is no reason why women should not be allowed to become pastors. Women can serve just as productively in religion in my opinion.

    No they cannot.

If religious leaders are to convey; belief, leadership, a strong reality, gravitas, inspire respect, then really they must be male. We're talking about religious leadership, not child care. The tonality and pacing is important. I've never been impressed at religious meetings led by women. It's why cult leaders are invariably male. Relgious congregations are exactly like tribes.

I accept the objections to female ordination are largely theological. I'd leave that for others to consider.

I am planning a thread on the influence techniques within congregational religious worship.

I can see the problems some have mentioned, but I think that is more of a problem with full-time clergy. I think stay at home moms/housewives make good clergy, since they have time to devote to those things that men with full time jobs won't.

I wouldn't have a problem with it, however I am for tradition and not for spur-of-the-moment thinking that Liberals have.

Even though I'm not a Christian of any sort, I disagree with women becoming pastors/clergy/what have you in the Christian faith. It doesn't seem to match the tenets of the faith...
