Does red signify something important to the Swedes nowadays? Nations had various flags throughout history that doesn't mean all colors should be used to represent them. Cause some Dutch folks for example loathe the red in their flag, they prefer the orange, white and blue one for Dietsland. So I don't think it's so simple to come up with a pan-Germanic flag that pleases all Germanic nations. :

Obviously not "so simple", but not impossible. As already mentioned a couple of times: a pre-Christian approach is preferable, since all Germanic nations have their unique share in this heritage. I tend to consider the colours blue (the maritime/oceanic element) and red (symbolizing the ties of consanguinity) as obvious choices. "My flag" was not intended as a suggestion or contribution to this thread (it's simply a part of my signature), but if the EU-stars are removed, I must admit it looks rather promising...

Only for the Scanians. (Southern Swedes who don't know whether they're Swedes or Danes or possibly simply Scanians.)

I'd prefer a striped flag like the German or Belgian. And crossless! :p

Fair enough, but why crossless? A cross is not necessarily a Christian symbol.

Actually Swedish houses or cottages are traditionally painted in red. Although the reason behind that is - or so I have heard - that we had quite a considerable amount of Copper and that some residual Copper or Copper ore or whatever is used to make red paint. I am not sure if that is true or not, but if you travel the Swedish countryside you will witness the houses I mention. There has also been some people claiming that the Swedish flag shuld be red and green. Red to symbolize the houses and green to symbolize the forests. But personally I am more inclined to believe that if there will ever be a change, it may be because muslims consider the Swedish flag to be discriminative, since the cross stands for Christianity. It sounds awful, but if nothing is done to stop it, that´s exactly the way we are heading. A sad thing, that is.

I would like to see a flag, a flag with a snow white hammer of Thor, on a deep blue field. That would be a flag I would enjoy.

I just 'studied' the Germanic flags and its colours , and it seems red white and blue are the most common. And since all Germanic nations flags contain atleast 1 of these 3 colours there should be no debate of which Germanic land isn't represented.
I'm not good with Paint so I didn't make a flag, but I would like to see a flag with a blue upper half and a red nether half with in the middle of the flag a white Odal rune.
You can see a quite symbolic meaning in it , because the (nethern and thus southern) red symbolises Muspelheim and the (upper and thus northern) blue symbolises Neflheim and the Odal rune symbolises the (Germanic) world that is created from the 2 places colliding .
"There are no races, only countries of people Chuck Norris has beaten to different shades of black and blue."

Nordic Cross flag. Reich colors (continental Germania) + Nordic Cross (Scandinavia, Reichskriegsflagge). The Nordic Cross is also present in the Vinland flag and in various Scottish flags. Other English-speaking peoples might feel excluded. Another problem is that two metals (silver and gold) touch, which I deem necessary for aesthetic reasons.

Needless to say, I support the idea of an ethnic flag separate from our political units.

Well, if my only-partly-Germanic-and-mostly-Gallo-Roman's opinion holds any worth to your eyes, I think that Dr Solar Wolff's proposal deserves to be thought about. Die Schwarze Sonne is absolutely magnificent, both esthetically and owing to its esoteric meaning. But the EU flag is quite nice to the eye, it reminds me of the Crown of Immortality with which many classical painters endowed the holy figures they represented, and that's why I put forward, instead of the Black Sun itself (however deeply I may like it) seo sigende sunne, that is Old English for the triumphant sun : a golden Schwarze Sonne symbol on a bright blue backdrop, instead of the twelve European stars.
But as I said, I'm only partially Germanic by blood and I tend to view it more like the flag of an idealized entity I call Westland (the lands of the Western Civilization).
    Westland erwache!
