I love those Germanic desserts for one main reason: I am much in favor of medium-sweet and bitter-sweet and sweet&sour tastes instead of plain sweet.

I also dislike too much sweetness that is common of chocolate-based desserts.

    So, Apfelstrudel

    Also, Swedish Kanellbulle:

    Swedish Almond Cake:

Also the Rasberry Cheesecake (U.S.). I guess that counts as Germanic too? :o

My favorite deserts are pecan pie, apple pie, and chocolate cake.

Freedom in the Germanic sense means inward independence, the scope for research, the extension of knowledge, and true religious feeling. Freedom for near eastern hybrids and swarthy mongrels means unrestrained license to destroy other cultural values...To grant outward freedom to everyone without distinction is to deliver oneself over to racial chaos. Only freedom as a bond between racial kindred guarantees the highest development. ~Alfred Rosenberg

Apfelstrudel is Austrian/Southern German, and also one of my favorites. I love apples in my meals and desserts, so anything with apples in it will do.

Apfel Streuselkuchen - Apple crumble cake, I usually serve this in cafes, with coffee, tea or plain water.

Apfelspalten (or Apfelringe), this is also a Swiss dessert, one I've been cooking often lately as it's quite simple and delicious, it can also be eaten as a meal. The apple rings can also be deep fried or baked and one can add a little beer in the mix.

Apfelpfannkuchen, apple pancakes, one can make a whole pancake out of apples, or dip apple slices in the mix.

Palatschinken, thin pancakes similar to the French crępes, traditionally rolled with apricot, strawberry or plum jam, and sprinkled with confectioner's sugar. Can also be eaten as a main course.

Kaiserschmarrn (Kaiser's mishmash - thick pancake pieces with fruit pieces or jam and powdered sugar), this is a consistent dessert which can also be eaten as a main course.

Germknödel, a sweet yeast dumpling filled with plum jam, topped with vanilla or butter sauce and poppy seeds.

Mohnnudeln, dumplings with lots of poppy seeds.

Powidltascherl, dumplings with nut crumbs and plum jam filling. Just awesome.

Punschkrapfen are small cakes filled with cake crumbs, nougat chocolate, apricot jam and then soaked with rum. They are very sweet and consistent.

All of those look so delicious! There must be a local ethnic store where I can try some of that. Or maybe I can order it online.

I've always been a fan of aebleskiver, a Danish dessert.

Sticky toffee pudding is another one of my favourites, especially with warm vanilla custard.
