'Well, what are you?" said the Pigeon. "I can see you're trying to invent something!" "I-I'm a little girl," said Alice, rather doubtfully. She found herself at last in a beautiful garden, among the bright flower-beds and the cool fountains.

I doubt that the Scotch apart from those who originate in the Lowlands near the English border qualify as 'Germanic'.
    I vote rice pudding.

Apart from a cheap supermarket trifle I am not much of a dessert fan, preferring sausage rolls, chicken legs and pork pies-man food.

    Who can forget porridge!
Quaker Oats making all types of porridge from cereals to desserts in bar form. My favourites are the bowls of granola.

Of course there are oaty yoghurts and porridgy oats in sections beside yogurts. Don't remember the story "The Magic Porridge Pot" by the Grimm brothers? Reading this as a kid made my mouth water.

Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

In another thread I made a comment that people are born with gifts.
Your wife is gifted creating cakes, she probably could turn this into a small business. Why go to the supermarket and buy an industrialized one? You don't know what is in it.
    My wife keeps backing too.
