I would hug it and squeeze it, and call it George, and knit it little BOOTIES.
"...The moral man is a lower species than the immoral, a weaker species; indeed - he is a type in regard to morality, but not a type in himself; a copy...the measure of his value lies outside him. ... I assess the power of a will by how much resistance, pain, torture it endures and knows how to turn to its advantage; I do not account the evil and painful character of existence a reproach to it, but hope rather that it will one day be more evil and painful than hitherto..." My cats would probably play with it, eventually kill it, and then probably eat it.

Usually around here right around fall you'll get a bunch of crickets who move in. I was hearing one in the basement for a couple of days. Then, I noticed a couple of cricket legs laying on the floor, but the cricket they were attached to, nowhere to be found, and then I noticed the silence.

My guess is that one of the cats saw the cricket, started playing with it until it's legs fell off and it coudln't move anymore and therefore wasn't any more fun to play with , and then ate it.

I kill every spider I see because it might be the one that kills me..! Things like crickets or stink bugs I let go or just leave alone.

If it's one of those black fat spiders, I kill it out of instinct (fear and self-preservation I guess) and because I find it disgusting to have insects in my room let alone my house. I've tried to overcome it though because I know they are more afraid of me. But it's so much easier just killing them quickly and quietly, it's tempting to kill first. If they are ants, they will also die. Flying insects I try to release because you just open the window and guide it out. Oddly enough, I like to keep around the house the long-legged "mosquito eaters" because of their usefulness.

I sick my minpin on them. I feel bad taking a life if I don't need to, but its okay for him because he eats them.

I give most insect the chance to go away from me very quickly, and if they do i'm far to blase and lazy to chase after them. But if they insist on remaining in sight, then i kill them. If i ever find any sort of colony or the beginning of any sort of infestation, then i kill them.

The house i grew up in actually backed onto a park with a decent sized pond in it, and we had cats so there was always food out. This of course meant that a lot of the time there were flies buzzing around. I actually got to the point where i could catch most flies in my hand without killing them... although i usually killed them after anyway. Sadly my reflexes seemed to slow way down soon after i found the joys of alcohol.

If it's in my home, it's in my territory and gets squashed. Now, if it's by the door, then I'll let it out if I can.
If it's outside, it's in its own territory and is left alone.

Added - in my old apartment I had a millipede/centipede problem. That wasn't a let live or kill. That was a "walk around in the house in the highest clunky shoes I owned with a bug killer spray in one hand and long-handled swatting device, usually a swiffer in the other while using said swiffer to move objects to check for the bug. Stalking around the apartment like bad TV/cop or little kid trying to be a lion, and the spraying the you-know-what out of it while whacking it with the swiffer."
Above bug killing description often came along with what I like to call the "arachnoprance." That OMG ew ew ew dance you see people do when there's a bug near them. Arm flapping/waving may occur when it's a flying insect or a spiderweb.
