My biology professor said these deep-sea creatures would explode if brought up to the surface due to such a large difference of atmospheric pressure. I assume the ones that are fully intact don't live at the extreme deep part of the sea. It's fascinating how these creatures have adapted to the environment through the use of photophores (light-emitting organs).

Actually they do not explode fully but some of their organs can explode but well they die here for sure if not kept in special high pressure aquariums. It's also helpful to slowly take them up and we humans have the same problems if the pressure differences change too fast. I consider that habitat as extremely interesting and one of my dreams is to explore it with a submarine somewhen hrhr
