I figure that coca cola and similar drinks account for much of the grotesque obesity in the black population. It is enough of an association for me to avoid such drinks altogether.

Another thing about America softdrinks is that they are sweeten with high fuctrose corn syrup. I don't know how common this is other countries, but HFCS is not supposed to be good for you. But it's a matter of trade policy. High tariffs on cane sugar to support the few cane growers in the US & sugar beet farmers & to encourage the use of HFCS which comes from corn (maize) makes a lot of farmers happy. Some people think HFCS is responsible for the increase of obesity over the last 25-years.

I'm not big on drinking things other than water. It's just how I've always been.

I used to have a couple glasses of coke per week, now I rarely ever have it. My brother has finally resolved to stop drinking soda, so now we usually don't even have any in the house. If we do have some in the house, I may or may not pour myself an ounce or two of it, not a full glass, though, I couldn't tolerate that.

It doesn't satisfy me, but it has an interesting flavor and texture. The darker sodas that are heavy with corn syrup and this, that, the other thing provide an interesting contrast to the carbonation.
Polygamy: it might not be for you, but what right do you have to keep it from me?

Drop a coin in some coke to see how clean it is when you pull it back out. That should give you an idea of what goes into the stuff

For me it worked once to keep me a bit awake, but only in combination with not sitting down.

Good point Æmeric. In Germany most soft drinks have sugar (Zucker) as the sweeter.

Regular soda tastes odd, almost bitter, to me. I prefer Pepsi Max (sugarfree), though my constant consumption of the poison over the years has probably corroded my insides by now.

I always water it down with ice. I alway dilute cola by 50% & it still takes me at least 3 to 4 hours to finish off a 12 ounce (24 ounces counting ice water)can.

btw good German beer not the cheap American beer

Agreed on all accounts. I feel the need to say though, that there is actually some pretty darn good American beers these days. One just has to pay a little more.
