    Genealogy ?

As I have learned from the study of my own genetics, distribution maps of family names are mostly useless in determining one's ethnic heritage. My family name happens to be commonest in Wales (NOW), yet there isn't a single match to my Y-DNA at any level of significance, not even at two steps removed, from Wales.

It seems likely that the present concentration of my surname in Wales is the result of recent migration. Of course, I should point out that my Y-DNA doesn't match that of anyone else having the same surname as I do ! :O
