Monogamy: a (greek) word expressing the relatively strict ties of a man to only one woman, and of a woman to only one man. Christian marriage is a good example of our monogamical culture.

Polygamy: a (greek) word, expressing the absence of limitation of sexual partners. It can be applied both to men and women.

I find Polygamy in the form of a lasting relationship, or marriage if you will, to be distasteful and perverse. It is basically a statement that one partner is not good enough for you and that you have to have many to find any sort of meaningful satisfaction. Are people that lustful that they have to engage in sexual acts with a whole congregation of partners? It's absurd.

Besides, if you love someone enough to want to spend a part, or all, of your life with them, why would you want to share the bed of another? Would you want the person that you love to have intimate relations with someone else? Could you sit idly by while your significant other is being touched as you would touch them, by another person?

Sex is just sex when it's with someone that you don't entirely care about...but when you're in love with a person, sex is just another way to let that person know how much they mean to you. How can that kind of love and respect be transmitted in a relationship that has many partners? How can a person's heart belong to three or four people at once?

Polygamy is just about lust and and pleasures of the flesh...not about creating a loving, nurturing and binding relationship. :eyes

powerless to separate ourselves from her, and powerless to penetrate beyond her.

Without asking, or warning, she snatches us up into her circling dance, and whirls us on until we are tired, and drop from her arms." - Goethe

Polygamy is for the Negro, as for having mistresses, that is okay. Marrying many women is wrong because the meaning of marriage is commitment. That is all.

When a couple meet they should remain faithfull to one another, trust and respect is integral to happiness and welfare of Nation and society.

If one falls out of love or breaks the trust i.e. is unfaithfull it should be annuled. i believe in the possibilty of divorce as i dont think people should be trapped in loveless/ abusive relationships.

Post Re: Polygamy: what is your opinion?

This is a very interesting dilemma. In principle, I have no problem with consensual polygamy, though I'm monogamous myself. Polygamy might actually be eugenic, as it puts increased sexual selection on the males; if one male can have multiple females bound to him, this means a number of males (especially among the lower strata of society) will end up without a spouse. These unmarried men may, however, cause a nation that practices polygamy to be less stable than a monogamous one.

I vote against polygamy as strongly as possible. It seems to me immoral and disgusting. Are we animals to put sex on the first place? The family should be protected, with a couple of two persons faithful to themselves and supporting each other. It doesn't need to be mentioned also that it's definitely better for the kids if they have two parents, not more or less.

Warranted, I'm not a polygamist, but monogamy is not natural (historically, polygamy has been suggested by the lack of Y-chromosome diversity); it's only a consequence of self-deprecating (moral) Christianity which abhors the strong and virile and lauds pity. The fact that the instinct for monogamy is so rare in nature attests to this.

With regards to polygamy, think of the perpetuation of the strong and suitable:

As for monogamy, think "self immolation":

Realistically ladies, is there a man alive who wouldn't want his own harem?
