I moved from suburban Chicago to northern Virginia...that was quite a big change.

I think if I were to move from here I'd move out to someplace where houses are cheap, there are few illegal aliens, and even fewer Federal government workers. Rural Nebraska, maybe?

I've thought Australia or New Zealand might be nice.

There are counties in Arizona & California that bigger then Vermont or New Hampshire. It sounds like you haven't ventured more then maybe a hundred miles from where you were born.

Hmmm, irony was floating around in my comments perhaps?

Actually, I was born in South Carolina--but only because my father was in the Air Force during Vietnam and was stationed there when I popped out.

    Fancy a house swap?

I'm considering a move to the US, I just need to sort out one or two hundred things first.

I could consider to move in Canada, in the future...........

Canada or U.S.A. : for U.S.A. i'd say, ideally, some quiet, or conservative, predominantly European state/area (North-western states, New Englad, Texas), but more realistically, major part of immigrants go to places like N.Y. new Jersey or similar......ugh !!)

For Canada i'd say the Atlantic part of the country (less directly exposed to Asian immigration)......New brunswick or (even better), le grand Quèbec !

I'm wondering how multi cultural Scottish cities are since some of the Europe's best universities in social sciences are overthere like Edinburgh for instance.

    Edinburgh is an excellent university.
Well, Glasgow and Edinburgh are very multicultural now, 15 years ago you rarely saw a black person on the street, it would be an eye popping experience but now we are one, not so rich, tapestry of colour, religion and culture.

I've seriously considered the idea of living in south eastern Australia, Melbourne or Newcastle. I've always romantically toyed with the idea of living in Britain since I was younger.

Sad to hear that but well, I will still be the social outsider and will just live in my own rooms and the university there so it does not matter that much. Because I heard it is an excellent university I have it as my third choice anyways (right after Oxford and LSE).
