Who really knows? Who can presume to tell it?
Whence was it born? Whence issued this creation?
Even the Gods came after its emergence.
Then who can tell from whence it came to be?

That out of which creation has arisen,
whether it held it firm or it did not,
He who surveys it in the highest heaven,
He surely knows - or maybe He does not!

im an atheist i suppose.i dont believe in any supernatural omnipotent god....perhaps there is one, but i severly doubt it.
i believe nature is all there is and really, isnt that more than enough for us? i find religion interesting but it has no place in my life.

Probably atheist, of the weak type.

Having just left theism recently, I try not to think of it too much. Theism has ruled my life for so long, that I feel I need a break from gods. So now I am atheist, and I don't need to justify my position or even think about it. I am not the one who has to prove (or disprove) the existence of any supernatural beings. I doubt there are any. I feel this is a rational position, although many might prefer agnosticism. There is a fine line. The agnosticist has not made up his mind yet.

That is how I think as well.

I have encountered this issue of nature versus something extra here before (see Sigrun's thread on Buddhism in this forum).

Everything and every event in existence appears to have a catalyst, it seems illogical that existence itself should lack this.

Yes, but by this same reasoning the existence of a god/gods would also need a catalyst. Then we come to the old question of "Who created God?" Only by ascribing supernatural powers to a god can this be overcome. But this is illogical and unrealistic.

For almost 20 years I gave up religion, being an assumed atheist. Nevertheless, I do respect the anciant Aryan gods for they not only represented us in the way that they were just like we are (or we were creted according to them), as we can clearly see in Greek, Roman, Keltic or Hindu mythologies, but they also were the personification of the forces of nature. They really gave meaning to the aspect that we almost forgot: that we and Nature should be as one!
I need no scientific proof nor faith will polute my heart (hope I'm not offending anyone by saying this!), for me there's no such a thing as god!
    My religion is my race!
