What If There Was No Internet?

How would you had spent the thousands of hours you have wasted on the global net? What would you do?
I believe f.e that I would go more oftenly in wild nature in blessing its beauty and charm.

Re: What if there was no internet?

I am sure we'd find much more interesting things to do, such as spend time with friends and family, read more books or go on nature-loving excursions.

Really, I think it is a menace. I spend 1/10 of the time I used to spend online 2 years ago, but still I feel I am missing too much of my life and should be more "out there". It gives me an excuse to get lazy and avoid all the things I want to do and I am too bored (such as register to a gym or start learning a new language).

    Damn, it's the devil's work!!

I would do the same as Boche, buy books/papers/documents. After all, the Internet is just information.

I wouldn't be so cruel. It's overwhelmingly like some sort of addiction . More interestingly something from my experince, even when i'm outside away of any seductive monitors a part of me or my brain i believe i still anywhere in the virtual space.,i'm semi-productive, as if a part of my brain is in a coma, most of my nervous cells are either on vacation or on strike,... anyone here with such experience?

I was kidding, of course, as I don't believe in the devil

What I meant is that it numbs your mind, like you say, and it is a passive experience that can be very, very addictive. Plus a whole bunch of other things, such as absorbment in the virtual world. Well, I guess it's up to each individual to determine his/her own relationship with the internet.

AW: Re: What if there was no internet?

I would definately not say that internet is something passive and infact I'm much more active in the internet than I've ever been in real life. If there weren't the internet I'd be first of all very lonely and bored and most likely also depressive since the internet is the only way for me to talk to decent people. I mean I have numerous good acquaintances in real life but nobody I can talk to in a serious way and on the same level about serious topics so eventually internet is not just a library for me but also some kind of way to get known to people I have more in common with than with the rest of the village youth. But still without internet I'd still be some kind of politically interested computer and gaming geek and probably I would have increased my knowledge in topics like programming and so on.

So if there weren't the internet, I'd be one of those desperate geeks inventing it.

Re: What if there was no internet?

My job(s) are also largely based on the internet, if not totally dependent on it.

Thus, I nowadays see it as a tool and some entertainment on the side, and not as a virtual life arena (anymore).

You haven't read the rest of my post, have you?
If you, against my assumptions, have read it, tell me what should somebody with my interests and character do in my environment without computer
