Of course there is still some low hostility. But nothing to serious anymore i'd say. Also i never met an english tourist yet who didn't manage it to make me angry.

It has probably helped having American movies and TV shows, You'd certainly hear those more in the entertainment our media has to offer than you would a Northern English accent.

What is it with American tourists to the UK? ... They tend to speak very loudly, even in public amenities. It almost feels like they're wanting people to hear they're American in an "ooooh ahhhhh" type manner, when I only do a double-take when I hear a Scandinavian

Well, German accents are very diverse, and even in Germany a specific German accent is most of the time ridiculed in all regions where it is not spoken. This is why I asked specifically about Southern German accents.
The last time I visited Germany, the owner of a gym I went to (in eastern Germany) spoke with an accent that really stood out. He pronounced "gut" as "güt" with a quite long and strong emphasis. Which accent is this?

When a good looking white women speaks to me with an accent or another language I melt! Very seductive when nice but very intolerable and annoying during an arguement. I dont think the Osbornes are fooling anyone.

Well really! One cant begin to to feel utter dismay at your accusation that we English have a vocal sound that appears, dare I say it "Arrogant". Goodness me ,old chap, we will really have to educate you foreign types. The fact is those Damn bounders over our The English Channel ( I refer to the Frenchies of course) are the real arrogant ones, whom I may add are without any Monarchy, as opposed to to our more...Regal nation whom do after all have Her Majesty Queen Elizebeth the second at the Helm. It is Quite beyond the people of these fair Isles that you, our humble subjects deem us as arrogant.Heavens forbid,What pray tell, jolly well makes you think that.Tally Ho (lol ).

Quite a few usually older British men customers come to where I work. They don't fool me, though. More often than not they have a young south-east asian woman with them.

I found this amusing and...loosely relevant to the subject of the thread.

Hey! Would you mind "classifing" my accent? I'm no native speaker, and my English still needs to improve...

This is a recording from the following excerpt from Wikipedia:http://www.woofiles.com/dl-11359-aRE7eoqz-file.mp3

The regional accents of English speakers show great variation across the areas where English is spoken as a first language. This article provides an overview of the many identifiable variations in pronunciation, usually deriving from the phoneme inventory of the local dialect, of the local variety of Standard English between various populations of native English speakers
