When hair shows the genetic colour?

I´ve noticed that some people have ashen blond/light blond hair when kid (mostly with men), but after it gets dark, with age, 90 per cent of time it turns into light brown/dark blonde. Well, when do you think that the hair shows the genetic colour of the individual?

I think that in adolescence, because it's a period which the growth reach to most high-point, well I'd say that after of the adolescence the most-hight-point support itself for more years, even it reach to part of the adulthood.

However, in the infancy the growth is begining. And in the old age the body is decay.

Anyway, I think that a biologist could explain it better...

Adolescence. Black people aren't born black either. If it was childhood, it would make black people arabs or so...

AW: When hair shows the genetic colour?

That's a false alternative. The hair always shows the "genetic color" (as long as it's not artificially colored, bleached, ...). The thing is that color change is sometimes part of the genetic program, so "the color" is in fact a color range (sometimes from light blonde to brown to grey to white ... to bald ).

EDIT: Actually, it's like e.g. in the case of "the color" of an oakleaf which is anything between light green and brown. The process as a whole with all its intermediate steps is the function of the genetic code.

Strange. All the sons of black people that i´ve seen (at the age of 3/4) were dark as they´re parents. But when i mention KID, its between the range of 3 to 8 years old. Not Newborns

Hmm.. I don't know. I'd say at all ages, unless it's dyed.
What do you make of this:

My mother was born with red hair which eventually darkened to a more brown color. By the time she was 21 she started getting grays. She's now 47 with white hair. Unless she dyes it. I don't know when she went totally gray / white because she dyed it. She has red haired relatives.

I was born with jet-black hair which eventually lightened to what I would call a medium-dark brown. No signs of grays yet. My father is dark haired, either black or dark brown, I can never tell which. He started going grey in his late 20s.

I had white and bright blonde hair until i turned 17. And now with 20 it's more something between golden blonde and ashblonde.

Can we ask the same question about hair texture? For example my hair went from white blonde 12 (style)>golden blonde 13/15(style) ashen blonde 16(style) darkblond/lightbrown 17/18 years(curled).

Well, i read in some sites that with some people, when they grow up, the hormonal production tends to affect the colour and the texture with the hair. And with some people not. In my opinion the hair show its genetic colour and texture when kid (3 to 8), because the hormonal production still weak, and the phenotype is closer to the real genotype, without external effects.

    Regards
