    Why Women Have Fewer Babies

The number of children a woman in America has in her lifetime declined during the past two centuries, and it's not just because of the birth control pill.

Re: Why Women Have Fewer Babies

According to most census estimates, an American woman had on average seven to eight children in 1800. By 1900 the number dropped to about 3.5. That has fallen to slightly more than two today.
Interesting. I did a search and discovered this:

Let's not forget trying to find a "suitable lifetime companion."
Or whatever you want to call it.

This thread inspired me to find out how many children my "fore-mothers" had. My mom, her mom, etc.

Mother - 1 (me) (and x number of abortions)
    Grandmother - 6. 5 girls, 1 boy.
    GGmother - 8. 5 girls, 3 boys.
    GGGm - 8. 4 girls, 4 boys.
    GGGGm - 6. 2 girls, 4 boys.
    GGGGGm - 9. 5 girls, 4 boys.

    Here's mine:
    Mother 4
    Grandmother 7
    Great-grandmother 5
    2xGreat-grandmother 4
    3xGreat-grandmother 7 (married 1860)

    Paternal Grandmother 10
    Her mother 9
Her Grandmother 4 (Civil War widow, no children by first husband, remarried in her 30s)
    Her Great-grandmother 10 (married 1832)

    Some other examples: Great-grandmother (born 1881, maternal grandfather's mother) 5; Her Mother (born 1858) 9; Her grandmother (born 1835) 13: Her great-grandmother (born 1797) 9.

    2x Great-grandmother (wife of paternal 2xgreatgrandfather) 10; she was born 1792.

All of these women were born in America.

really, the problem is not that women have fewer babies, but the fact that demographic statistics show that smarter women have fewer babies. I actually wouldn't mind if the world was depopulated by a few billion or two (by birthrates, of course).

I wouldn't mind either if the depopulation was was evenly balanced amongst the populations of the earth. But the fact is, at the moment, some countries/ethnicities still have very high birth rates, while others are well below replacement level, and have been for decades. In this current situation does change sometime soon, all we will see will be some populations becoming extinct (ie, European and some Asian populations - especially Japan), and others continually increasing in numbers, eventually prospering and dominating the world (ie, Arabic and African populations).

This is the real problem. An eventual imbalance of power, and the extinction of whole races, civilisations and cultures as we know them today.

Unfortunately too, it seems to be the races and civilisations with the most potential that are on the decline, and will be at risk of extinction eventually.

What shall we do to remedy this tragedy?

We must secure the existence of Our Volk and a future for Germanic Children.

... Have more sex? But then that isn't really the reason. I must say I'm very impressed with the analysis Raven has given there. But what is the synthesis (what must be done to turn the trend around)? That is a far more difficult question.

AW: Re: Why Women Have Fewer Babies

Let's not forget that quality always wins over quantity in the end. A few folks will always outsmart the rest of the world population. Actually it is going to become much easier with the Americanization (i.e. mental retardation and reinfantilization) in most parts of the world.

Apart from that there's not much space for children in this world, anyway. They are no longer part of the calculation. Economically interesting are only the old farts of today who still profit from the fat years through the pension system. Young families are the new paupers, the proletariate, the precariate. They don't matter. Decisions are made without them. And if you look at this group of people I really, really don't mind that the parents don't matter. It is the innocent children I feel sorry about.
And all my youth passed by sad-hearted,
    the joy of Spring was never mine;
Autumn blows through me dread of parting,
and my heart dreams and longs to die.

    - Nikolaus Lenau (1802-1850)

Real misanthropes are not found in solitude, but in the world; since it is experience of life, and not philosophy, which produces real hatred of mankind.

    - Giacomo Leopardi (1798-1837)
