This evening, I saw the man who ended apartheid in South Africa give a speech near my university of 40,000. I found him to be articulate yet of weak character. He was honest about South Africa's problems, but obviously he has lost any vestiges of whatever racialism he was raised with. He even said that crime had reached an "unacceptable level." During the Q/A session, I asked him "What has caused crime to reach an unacceptable level?" He gave me a five minture answer: he cited lack of effective policing and prosecution, an attitude of distrust amongst those who had been raised with that, and various other things. He did not mention any biological (i.e. racial) aspect to the increase in crime after the end of white rule. If anyone wants more details, let me know.
