Post Just Got Back from the Passion

I have to say I liked it very much. I mostly have minor problems with the film.

First was Mary being played by a Jewess, but I do admit Maia Morgenstern did a good of protraying her. I fail to see Linder's argument that she looks like a Gypsy.

Second, "His blood be upon us and upon our children" is not subtitled in the film, although Caiaphis does utter it. Although he utters it over the yelling of the crowd so you really had to pay attention to hear it(I barely heard it)

Third, the man who carried Jesus' cross was actually a Greek(or so I have been told).

Fourth, Jesus did not say "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do" to the pharisees but to the Romans.

Other than that I saw little wrong with it. Did I cry? No I did not, but I almost did during that scene when Jesus drops his cross in exhaustion and Mary came running towards him. There was just something touching about that. If I have one weakness, it's seeing women in emotional pain and crying like what was protrayed.

As for how the Romans are protrayed, I think some whine too much abou that. Roman soldiers were brutes quite alot, get over it! Public executions and gladitorial games were family enterainment to the Romans, so I doubt they would've flinched much over executing Jesus. To them it would've been another day on the job, and they wouldn't have understood nor probally cared about the politics involved in why they were executing Jesus.

As for the torture scene, I've seen worse in terms of violence on film; but com'on who else besides sick sadists do you have doing that work?

Ironic that "graphic" violence and such doesn't bother me, yet a women in emotional pain and crying(over something legitmate not trival as many women today do) is something I can't stand. Ahh......the mysteries of life!

As for the Romans mocking Jesus, thats not far fetched either.

Indeed there are some Roman soldiers who show humaness in the film. The commander often tells the soldiers to knock it off: first during the torture scene(saying they were only supposed to whipp not kill him) and then again when Jesus collaspes and is unable to carry the cross and Roman soldiers are whipping him.

Then there was the Roman soldier who showed some sympthay for Mary's plight on seeing her son killed. Indeed when she approaches the cross, the soldier first tries to stop her but then lets her be.

When Jesus cries that hes thristy, the Romans dampen a cloth, place in on a spear and puts it near his mouth. Although the Roman soldiers saying "This was clearly the son of God" was not in the film(or it wasn't subtitled) was odd, but didn't bother me too much.

As for Satan being supposedly a Nordic woman, again nothing but pointless whinning IMHO. Blacks and Jews whine if any negative character is of their race, and so its basically within that league in my opinion.

As for the music, I rather liked it. I don't know what some like Linder had against it.

    Overall I liked it.

This is really not my kind of movie, so I'll probably never see it but, if you wouldn't mind commenting, was it as anti-semitic as Hollywood claims it is?

It does portray the Pharisees in a bad light. I didn't care much for the film. Not because it was poorly done but just because I'm not into the Christian thing.

I can't wait to see it actually. It sounds like it might have enough violence to keep my attention

You have to insert your misogyny even into movie reviews. Priceless!

Has it ever occured to you that we cry more often and over smaller things simply because we are emotional creatures and prone to it, by the hand of nature, biology, & etc. ?

I might go see it. I mean, hey, Mel Gibson did make it, he's a cool guy and his movies are very well done. Jews hate him and the movie, so it must be good! I will gladly give money to Gibson just for that, and to send a message that being "anti-semitic" can be and should be profitable. I want to see more movies that the Jews don't like, one isn't nearly enough.

The Jewess who played Mary was always very gracious and protective of Gibson against the slander from the media, so I find no fault with her. She says she's Romanian and looks basically Mediterranean to me. Linder must be another evil Nordicist!

The whole film is violence. Just when you think the violence has ended, it is only the method of violence that ended.
