Lightbulb Modern Icelandic Men: Stature, Iris Pigmentation, Etc.

Here are the men. Well, I lucked out in finding the Iceland Actor’s Union site (http://www.actors-union.is/felagar/leikarar/leikarar.htm), so I decided to use the actors below as a sample population in regard to the stature and iris pigmentation of modern Icelandic men--this may or may not be a valid study for this purpose, I’m not a statistician, but where else is one going to find such data (stature & iris pigment.) ONLINE? And, besides, who would even make a study like this?! A nerd like me, that’s who! LOL Directly below this passage are 121 actors/‘samples’ all of whom to the best of my knowledge are Icelanders. Below that section is a list of those actors I have excluded from this study for one reason or another (reasons provided). Below that part is a list of ten actors who caught my eye for aesthetic reasons, generally--well, honestly, I’ve never had much interest in looking at men (most men are ugly in my eyes), but these ten are about the best I can say as far as calling them ’handsome’ goes. LOL That section is followed by all the statistical tallies, translations, etc.; which is really the ‘meat’ of this study. So, what does this study tell me about male Icelander stature and iris pigmentation? The following: 1.) nearly all adult Icelandic men (97.52%) have a stature of at least 170 cm. or 5 ft., 6.93 inches; the median or middle-sized man is 181 cm. or a little over 5 ft., 11.26 inches tall; 2.) the OVERWHELMING majority of Icelandic men (90.91%) possess blonde irises (note this is lower than the women‘s %s…typically, IMO, men are, as a general rule, pigment-wise, darker colored than women), with ‘blonde’ defined as ranging from clear/’pure’ blues to light brown; the median iris color (or the middle iris color) is, like the women, blue-gray. Approx. 59.51% of all Icelandic men have irises ranging from either clear/’pure’ blue to ‘dark-blue’ irises. Again, the grand totals are at the bottom of this article. I’d like to thank VERY MUCH! Willowsprout on Skadi for assisting me with this, she is primarily of Icelandic blood, and it is to her and her fellow brothers of said ethnicity that I dedicate this study…I hope it is considered just by them most of all. I, for one, hold GREAT love and respect for the Icelander Folk.

    These I Have Not Counted:

    http://www.actors-union.is/felagar/Baltasar.htm (I suspect not indigenously Icelander, & generally-speaking, non-Germanic looking)
http://www.actors-union.is/felagar/EggKaab.htm (questionable Icelandic heritage due to surname)
http://www.actors-union.is/felagar/HakonWaa.htm (questionable Icelandic heritage due to surname)

http://www.actors-union.is/felagar/ThorburnstBa.htm (questionable Icelandic heritage due to surname)

The Ten That Most Caught My Attention (In Alphabetical Order. Pictures Attached Below):

Árni Pétur Guđjónsson: skin pigment.: very blonde (freckled); hair pigment.: brunette? blonde? (light brown?, dark flaxen?); iris pigment.: very blonde (declared blue, BUT his HAVE to be clear/’pure’ blue…I can even see it in the b/w photo.); height: 176 cm.
Bjarni Ingvarsson: skin pigment.: very blonde (freckled); hair pigment.: blonde? (dark flaxen?); iris pigment.: very blonde (blue-gray); height: 183 cm.
Guđbrandur Valdimarsson: skin pigment.: blonde (light, perhaps very blonde/freckled, uncertain); hair pigment.: uncertain? (uncertain?…aged); iris pigment.: very blonde (blue); height: 180 cm.
Ingvar E. Sigurđsson: skin pigment.: blonde (light); hair pigment.: brunette? or dark blonde? (light brown? dark flaxen? dark ashen?); iris pigment.: very blonde (blue, perhaps clear/’pure’ blue); height: 185 cm.
Jón Bjarni Guđmundsson: skin pigment.: blonde (light); hair pigment.: brunette? uncertain? (brunette?); iris pigment.: very blonde (blue); height: 182 cm.
Kristján Franklín Magnús: skin pigment.: blonde (light, though uncertain? very blonde/freckled?); hair pigment.: brunette? dark blonde? uncertain? (light brown? dark flaxen/ashen? uncertain?); iris pigment.: very blonde (blue-gray); height: 182 cm.

I see Upper Paleolithic added in mostly all. Interesting to see the average height of Iceland. I think average height is growing in the developed countries. The average height for Iceland looks to be about 6'00" which is quite tall.

Iceland has alot of "the only country in the world" deals because it is so small. I have read they have the tallest people in the world which is easy if ya only have 250,000 ppl in one country lol. Anyway that has nothing to do with anything I was going to share though that my borther is 6'4 blond haired green eyes and thin (sadly unlike me lol). And also that I proud of my Icelandic heritage and by saying that I am not at all saying Im better or otherwise.
I have also read from DeCode genetics that Icelandic woman show more Irish and the men more Norweigan blood. that may account for some of the less obvious diffrences in the men and the more obvious in the woman.

    ok

I've found these stature observations to be interesting also. The classic notion is that Germanic men are supposed to be 'tall,' the question is, is ~6 ft. a good median/normal height for all Germanic men, Icelanders included, obviously. Or, should a stature range of say, 5'10" to 6' 2" be considered 'normal' for men of Germanic blood with those above or below this range to be considered abnormal/atypical? I agree, and I'm sure the hard data bears this out, that stature has increased has/is increasing in the devel. countries. I've noticed this in my own personal life...I've seen so many men that are older than me are shorter than me and so many men that are younger than me are taller than me. I think better health care/inoculations/nutrition/etc. are the primary reasons for this.

Coon wrote that height and some other characteristics are not good for determining racial types because they can change within just a few generations.

A prominent member of this site told me one time that Montenegrians are the tallest among all Euro. ethnics, lol. I doubt anyone knows definitively which ethnicity is the tallest.

VERY TALL by both Icelandic and Germanic standards, IMO.

GOOD GIRL! What this world needs is MORE folks like you and LESS of those people who think of themselves as BETTER than everyone else (the 'racial supremacists') OR those who HATE their own people (the 'guilty' self-haters) OR those who don't even have a CLUE as to WHO their 'people' are (the racially/ethnically ignorant) OR those who HATE other peoples different from themselves (the only TRULY 'hating' part of the so-called 'hate movement').

There's a GOOD thread on Icelandic genetics somewhere, I forget where I saw it, perhaps it's not even on this site. As I recall, many/some of the mtDNA (maternal) lines were indeed traced to the British Isles but not all with many/some/others traced to Norway. The y-chromo. lines (the paternal only lines) were almost universally traced to Norway. I would expect that modern Icelanders, being such a SMALL/ISOLATED population, are one of the most homogeneous ethnicities among all European Racials--more homogeneous than Norwegians and Swedes I have little doubt--although from what I know and have seen I personally consider Icelanders and Norwegians to be little different from one another.

    Thumbs Up Thank Yous!

I have to THANK Willowsprout & Cosmo. for their support in this thread. Sadly, many seem not to have much of an interest in it, there's more than one person on this site I'm disappointed with in this regard.
