What is your definition of Humanism? And why wouldn't you?

I was referencing Renaissance Humanism, and its striking difference to Christianity in the Middle Ages with its emphasis on logic, knowledge, and a scholastic, and scientific approach to life, and academia -- that the ancient Greeks and Romans practiced. Not the modern 'intellectual', religious, and Speciesist variations of it.
