Post New Rules and Paid Subscriptions

I see there is now paid subscriptions.

    http://www.forums.skadi.net/subscriptions.php?

My question concerns these paid subscriptions with the new rules:

    19. Slander, libel, insults, and defamation directed against skadi.net, Skadi Forum, their staff, their administration, or their respective decisions, also when occuring in other places than Skadi Forum, will be dealt with at the sole discretion of the administration.

    20. We reserve the right to remove anyone's account without notice. We also reserve the right to discipline Members and to ban their IPs at our own will. These decisions are not debatable. Generally, unless you are not of any productivity to the board or unless you are a serious offender or a threat to the board and its harmony, you will receive warnings. Again warnings are issued at our discretion.

If a person has a paid subscription, does that exempt them from being removed as a member? If not, are the funds returned to the member and how long would that refund take? Is there legal recourse, if the funds are not returned?

I envision a world where people dawning long white robes and elaborate headdresses run rampant down the streets, waving their arms in the air while screaming "we've gone mad, we've gone mad", like defrocked monks breaking the silence of ages past.

I might also add to the question and ask, do those who give paid subscriptions have a say in how the board is managed? At least to the extent that a shareholder of a corporation does.

    NO.

If you pay $5 month for extra space in your webmail account, you still have to follow the rules of the provider.

If you pay a $10 cover to get into a bar, you will be thrown out if you start a brawl without consequences.

Paying $60 month for a gym membership doesn't mean you have the right to break the equipment.

Paying $1200 month rent for an apartment doesn't mean you have the right to tear down the walls.

Members (as opposed to owners) still have to follow rules.

    Stick with acting, cosmo.

Yes, but those stated above usually can not be arbitrarily removed either. And the rules apply to all members equally.

Being banned from Skadi for breaking rules is not arbitrary.

    So what's your point?

    Hark! The crusades begin!
I envision a world where people dawning long white robes and elaborate headdresses run rampant down the streets, waving their arms in the air while screaming "we've gone mad, we've gone mad", like defrocked monks breaking the silence of ages past.

That's not true. People often pay extra to avoid certain rules or procedures that are annoying, like limited gym memberships for example. $30 and you can go to the gym between 9am and 3pm and 9pm amd midnight whereas $60 month will get you unlimited access.

Nothing but death applies to everyone equally.

I knew you were a communist!

Do you feel slighted, cosmo? Don't you think, just maybe.. possibly.. perhaps, you may have brought some of your recent trials & tribulations on yourself?
