The Bayeux tapestry is fantastic, I remember first seeing it in the opening credits of the 1990 Robin Hood starring ugh Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman as the Moor!!! ( Moors weren't black and Robin Hood didn't speak with an American accent! GRR ).

I wonder, what will you call England once you re-take it? What was it's name before the arrival of Angles ?

( It always used to piss me off when I read or see something about king Arthur, some movies, books and TV shows presented Arthur as king of England.

Yeah, I know. It's a bit misleading that. Still, at least Tolkein knew better when he moaned that even the Arthurian legends belonged to the soil of England, but not to the English people. In fact, the historical Arthur was likely a Romano-Briton (Romanised Brythonic Celt) fighting against the invading Anglo-Saxons.

As for what we will call the country after the Reconquista.....hmmm, I don't know actually. It was composed of various tribal kingdoms. Perhaps Albion would be suitable, or even Nua Eire (New Ireland).
But , I get ahead of myself....

If the Normans conquered England, why didn't they re-name the place?
How could it continue to be called the Land of the Angles [i.e., English Saxons] when it was ruled by the Normans?
Why didn't they call it New Normandy or something?
