Exorcise these antilife notions from yourself, TheudiskaR! That's only what you've been socialised to see. Retrain your eyes. There's another, more lasting, beauty there.

Indeed. It has two names: Serenity, and Wisdom.
"...The moral man is a lower species than the immoral, a weaker species; indeed - he is a type in regard to morality, but not a type in himself; a copy...the measure of his value lies outside him. ... I assess the power of a will by how much resistance, pain, torture it endures and knows how to turn to its advantage; I do not account the evil and painful character of existence a reproach to it, but hope rather that it will one day be more evil and painful than hitherto..." (Nietzsche)

Absolutely, overall the process of raising children is something I really look forward too. In fact I'll add that to my list on the what makes me happy thread.
I also look forward to being able to make enough money for my dear wife ( who will be a good 20 yrs. younger than me) to live as hassle-free an existence as possible, thus preserving her maidenly beauty up until the day I die.

It's true, some women "let themselves go" once they start a family.... but with Oswee's incredibly handy exercise wheel, getting fat after having children need never be a problem again!!

Ahhh.... we have another buyer for the gilded cage!! Yipee!!

I'm sure you will be very happy.

    As for what makes me sad;

Knowing my life is over even though I have decades yet to live.

Seeing dreams realised, then realising I was wrong.

Not being able to press rewind.

Not being able to press fast forward.

    Seeing loneliness in the world.

    Seeing hopelessness.

    Seeing inflexibility.

    Seeing death.

Seeing pain that has no purpose.

Seeing life, and knowing one day it will wither and die.

    Re: What Makes You Sad?

Death. My grandmother passed away 4 weeks ago (Alzheimers).

Coming to the end of a really enjoyable book or computer game.

The void in many Englishmen and women where pride should be.

The destruction of the countryside and its wildlife.

    Social anxiety.

Everything and nothing. Sometimes sadness overwhelms me for no apparent reason.

    Re: What Makes You Sad?

A delicious kind of sadness, that I crave at times, can be evoked by listening to anything that Katie Noonan sings/writes... she is truly a Goddess with the voice of an angel...

    Truth

She always said it was difficult to jealous
of something that wasn't really there, I thought I knew love
but I was simply trying to convince myself of it
trying to justify and prove myself

finding your own love of yourself
and sharing it with another love, your truth sears through me like a giddy rush
but like a too sharp knife as well it's hurting me
it's not so scary, it is liberating, it is truth

I see your truth and you see mine, we shock ourselves with the imagery
only cause I hold up the mirror and I show you me and you show me yourself

I think it's called truth, I know that it's right
in all it's splendid beauty and vivid gain
I think it's called truth, I think it deserves
to bring beautiful glory with necessary pain

you do not make me feel complete
just part of another whole that halved is another wonderful self
joined in a beautiful mystery journey
a snake finding legs and a horse learning to sit a while

making mistakes along the way and hurting another is par for the course
if you are following your own, which of course you need to do
as broken wings are mended and we watch us fly

I see your truth and you see mine, we shock ourselves with the imagery
only cause I hold up the mirror and you show me you and I show you myself

    Breathe In Now

I see love and beauty all around
I also see the sadness that's embedded in your frown
I wonder why you choose not to talk to those who surround
I sense a fear of lifting heavy feet
higher than you want to, I just want to believe your truth....

you stand there but you do not cast a shadow
you walk away with every word you choose not to say
I suppose that moving on paints a new colour for each day
I don't like to see dreams put on the shelf
to deal with on that one day
I just want to be happy for you

'cause I only have one second, this minute today
I can't press rewind and turn it back and call it now
and so this moment, I just have to sing out loud
and say I love, I like and breathe in now
and say I love, I live and breathe in now

I move on holding on to what I learn
it's time to let go of the notion
that the whole world's against me
break free of shackles that formed young
time free in now and now I know
it's not all up to me, I can count on another
so move on lighter and be free....

I believe in for today, I just want to know that you're okay
'cause I believe in breathing just for today
I just want to know that you're okay....
