jackson's are real nice, the better ones play real fast, but i dont like their tone as much...even now, with the EMG's. i used to have a charvelle(basically a custom shop jackson), from the early ninety's, and it was really nice. i really like the warm, dark tone of les paul's, and i dont mind the thicker neck, or heaviness. haha, the guitar i have now is an utter POS, it was a 200 dollar BC Rich "Virgin"...its pretty though deep sparkley red.

I mostly play Charvels. (you spelled it wrong. ) I have three of them, and I must say that they have the fastest necks, with the lowest action ever... there's nothing like a nice Charvel, IMO... not the cheap ass ones, I'm talking about the neck-thru, mid to late eighties beauties with German-made, Schaller Floyd Rose's (every other kind of Floyd is crap)... Aside from those, I have two early 90's Jacksons (this is the last one I bought, a few months ago), an early 80's Gibson Flying V, and a 1960's Strat re-issue (from 1982).. also a few acoustics - steel string and classical... I don't think I could ever have enough guitars.

For pickups, I'm an avid supporter of Seymour Duncan... I've upgraded to Duncans in a few of my guitars (eventually all will have them), but my Strat has EMG's... I don't like them at all, though. Mostly because they are active pickups and I have a bad habit of leaving my guitars plugged in for days... more often than not, those EMG's are running down my Strat's battery, so they are quite a hassle for me...

i really like the warm, dark tone of les paul's, and i dont mind the thicker neck, or heaviness.
That's what I've always hated about LP's... and Gibsons, in general. They are just so cumbersome! I totally cannot shred on a Les Paul, either... the neck is so fat and and my fingers are not that big. Because I find them so inconvenient and difficult to play with speed and efficiency, it makes me admire Randy Rhoads and Zakk Wylde all the more for being able to shred the sh*t out of them.

hah! im the opposite...well sort of. i cant play strat's, because the necks' are too thin, it feels like a toy to me. i guess, ive got strong hands(though they are pretty average sized, i'm definately not a born pianist, or anything), probably from the thick stringed acoustic guitar ive spent so much time playing on.(i also started out playing bass)

yeah, you've got to give zakk wylde some credit, he's an idiot, but he plays a les paul with a freaking .60 low E string! i remember getting a set of his downtune string's for tuning to drop C, and it literally messed up my nut! i had to get a new one, and get it put on by a luthier! .70 low E with his downtune set.:icon12:

I totally agree. One of things I am saving up for is getting rid of that Licensed Floyd Rose on my BC Rich to replace it with something better. Hel, playing twice through "Das Deutsche Blut" (likely going to be around 11 mins, that song), and the damn guitar needs tuning again! eyes:

-Die alte Seele trauernd und verlassen / Verblassend in einer erklärbaren Welt / Schwebend in einem Dunst der Wehmut / Ein Schrei der nur unmerklich gellt-
-Auch ich verspüre Demut / Vor dem alten Geiste der Ahnen / Wird es mir vergönnt sein / Gen Walhalla aufzufahren?-
