On the subject of Norse books, I find that they are rather hard to get hold of. I might have to browse online or second hand stores

Thats good to hear! I highly recommend finding a copy of "the outlaw". It's a 1980's icelandic film that sticks perfectly to the true tale of an icelandic man who was sentenced to full outlawry and how he and his family perceivered through it.

This Thread is on the Book Beowulf and Grendel by John Grigsby

    Thanks for pointing that out.

I've never read this book, it seems a little too fictitious.

I have read the book two or three times as I am studying the religious symbolism in Beowulf for an essay I am writing. Whilst some of it I found to be dubious or flimsy, overall I think it is a well researched and the premise is reasonably sound.

If I understand it rightly. You ranted against journalist who asked you about the movie about the book discussed here? Or did you mention it. And do you got a link to the article ?

I have not read the book by Grigsby but will look for it in the future. I have read the a translation of the original and it is a great story. I remember even reading it in high school, though I am sure times have changed and this is no longer part of the public school curriculum. Also, the movie Beowulf and Grendel which came out 1-2 years ago is quite good. It was filmed in Iceland and has terrific scenery.
