I have friends in La Place, Lake Charles and New Orleans, LA... My friend went back a week and a half ago to visit her brother / my friend. She is pregnant... I wonder if they are okay. Last I knew they were headed for Arkansas...

Btw, just some hours ago I heard the reporters justifying the looting on German radio broadcast. It´s fully understandable for them, after all it´s about "survival".

I had not heard that. I do know, however, that a cop was shot by a looter. They have not given us details on the officers condition.

It is indeed. The blacks here are ruthless animals. It didn't used to be this way. However, due to the "white flight" to the Northshore (where I live, immediately north of the Lake, New Orleans is the Southshore), the city has been left to the animals.

It must be noted that all decent, respectable white people evacuated the city, like they were supposed to.

I live in the Northshore, immediately north of Lake Pontchartrain. It used to be a rural vacation retreat of wealthy New Orleans residents. It consists of Mandeville (my home), Covington, Madisonville, Lacombe, and Slidell. The Southshore consists of New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, and Chalmette. The Northshore and Southshore are seperated by Lake Pontchartrain, a lake which seperates the two by 24 miles. The Causeway is a main artery connecting Mandeville and New Orleans, and cannot be driven on now because it shifted. It is 24 miles long and the longest bridge in the world. The Twin Span, another major artery which is a 5 mile bridge across the Lake, connecting Slidell and New Orleans, is completely destroyed, missing huge sections in dozens of places and also curving like a snake, will have to be built from the ground up.

Mandeville received flooding and massive amounts of wind damage to homes. Every road is littered with massive downed trees and powerlines. Tall oaks, pines and maples surround my home, and I have no idea what shape it is in.

No one will be allowed inthe city for 12 to 16 weeks it is being reported. It is being said that this is the single biggest natural disaster in U.S. history. New Orleans is continuing to be flooded. Last night Nagan (the mayor) said that they cannot repair the levee breaks, and the water will rise until it is level with the lake and river. The entire Southshore is wasted.

Every person that stayed in the city is black. New Orleans is the blackest city, per capita, in the U.S.

I've seen a couple of whites (skinny little punk boys and the rest were possibly hispanics) in the looting footage, they must have had to dig for that! The news seemed to hold back the looting footage for as long as they could, too many black faces, couldn't make it as "diverse" as they are supposed to and gods forbid they show blacks in a bad light. The stories all ended on a sympathetic note for the looters, the poor hungry thirsty african-americans! eyes:
I think the news said the cop killed died.
I heard a very quickly mumbled note that the prisoners on the freeway had had an "uprising" and were holding hostages.
The pictures of the causeways are fantastic, just pieces left. I heard of an oil platform that broke loose and is wedged under a bridge!
I am truly sympathetic for you and your family and the other good people that have lost so much but I can't help but feel elation at the sight of nature taking hers back on so grand a scale. Not that most will really learn anything from it. Sigh.
