Curses! the MoO2 download is trialware, after 5 sessions of only 15 minutes it asks you for $19.99 :O. Bluming steep considering their per unit distribution costs over the internet are not far north of $0.00. Stingy gits. :

Betrayal At Krondor, perhaps a bit tedious at times and it took me ages to get it to work with XP, not to mention the fact that it STILL crashed as I after weeks if not months of gameplay neared the end.. Grrr... yet, great and enthralling story, a thing usually lacking in games and movies alike these days. Abandonware rocks.

I like those old Arcade Games now commonly being emulated under MAME. Good mindless fun!

Close Combat: A Bridge Too Far

Awesome strategy WWII game. I used to play online. Of course, everyone wants to be the Germans. I used to design missions where I was controlling half a dozen SS snipers vs. 3 or 4 units of Brit reserves. I got to where I could knock them out pretty well.

Also, the most fun scenario as an Allied team, British Airborne units vs. German tanks. They usually got slaughtered, but they were the only Allied unit with even a remote chance of taking out a King Tiger... with sticky bombs. All the others were completely defenseless without a bazooka team or armour of their own.

Damn, I'm gonna have to dig that one out and see if I've lost my touch...

Well, ADOM and NetHack are of course immortal classics. In addition to them, I recommend the fantasy-tactics game series 'Myth', of which the two first parts are essential, but I don't know about the third one, since I haven't played that yet. They aren't especially old, as the first one is from 1997 or so, but very enjoyable nevertheless. Totally different from C&C's.

I got quite addicted to this one. I enjoyed making my own worlds, impossible landscapes etc.

Strange thing is, I only ever played it on the easiest setting, but I'd quite often play so as to give the computer an advantage until the last moment, then BANG!

I had to uninstall it AND throw away the CD!!!

    I'm over it now...

I'm pretty sure there are still corporate rights for MoO2, but MoO is abandonware.
the fallout games were excellent. i recently installed the original fallout as well, it's just too bad i couldn't face the final boss thanks to some stupid win2k bug. great games, nevertheless.

Hell jeah I play old games. I have a large video game collection, one of the biggest in Iceland I think.

Most of my stuff is listed on this site. But not all, since IGN doesn't have all my games in it's database.

Since people here have been talking about PC games moslii; I have memories of playng Wolfenstein 3D on my grandfathers 486 machine. I thought the game was awesome!

the first PC game I bought was Warcraft II: tides of darkness. A great game in wich two species fight for domination. the humans in the game were onli germanic, no negroes or other races.

Once they come out with new technology my old games loose their luster. Heck, as I get older games in general loose their luster. I should of put that in the getting older post...computer games aren't as much fun as they used to be.

I have a friend that all he does is play computer games when he isn't working. 5 years ago he set up a 3 computer LAN hooked up to the internet with cable and we used to hang there all the time after work and play all types of games. Baldur's Gate 2, Age of Empire's 1 and 2, Gallatic Battlegrounds, Empire Earth, Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, Sudden Strike 1 and 2, Civ 1 multiplayer and somewhat recently Civ 3 multiplayer, Neverwinter Nights, and I have probably forgot some. I've got CounterStrike, beer, and a eithernet internet connection in my dorm room to thank for me not getting my BS in Exercise Science a few years ago.

In retrospect, I regret all this computer playing...It is like a drug. Who knows how many good times and beautiful females I might of passed up to play a stupid computer game?

About the only thing I play a little bit of nowadays is CounterStrike Source and Sierra Papyrus Nascar Racing 2003 (the best racing simulator out there) which I play in a league, but that isn't much fun either getting my butt handed to me every week by a bunch of 55+ year olds.

There is one game I want though, but I am not going to buy it because my semester starts here in 2 weeks...Silent Hunter III is an awesome game, as I have played it at my friends. The best WW2 submarine simulator available. Everything is in German (or at least one can turn that option on), your U-boot flys the Kriegsmarine flag with the Hakenkruez, and when you start out in port there is a band that is playing "Deutschland über alles" for your crew on the dock. The graphics are great, and one has to manage his crew making sure that the crew and officers don't get too tired.
