I am wondering about this, too. Holidays on the hot beach of some caribbean country? No, thank you. I prefer the North, too, and even can't stand the summer heat here in Vienna. Mercifully the Gods are well dsiposed at the moment: It's cool and rainy outside. Reminds me of my home, sweet home..

I´m staying at home for the rest of the week and I hope that it´s warm outside because I want to go on a mountainbike tour and go swimming and fishing and reading some books and make a shopping tour and do some gardening, ...

I think I´ll need another week off... :smokin01:
Herbert Hoover

I can take the heat but i cannot take the sun which i find terribly painful for my eyes and skin. Usually i find myself more comfortable when it is below 20.

I agree! All my friends always want to go on vacation in Mexico or the Bahamas. I always ask them why and try to convince them to take a trip to Norway or Sweden or some other Northern European nation. But unfortunately most of them just want to party and don't care about seeing the grandness of Northern Europe. Luckily one of my friends is excited about seeing Northern Europe and she is going with me next summer on my trip!
Should the subduing talisman, the Cross, break, then will come roaring forth the wild madness of the old champions, that insane Berserker rage, of which the northern poets sing. That talisman is brittle, and the day will come when it will pitifully break. The old stone gods will rise from the long-forgotten ruin and rub the dust of a thousand years from their eyes; and Thor, leaping to life with his giant hammer, will crush the Gothic cathedrals!

    ---Heinrich Heine

I do not like hot either.

My idea of nice holiday is going to northern parts of Skandinavia in August or to Ireland in september or early spring.

Nope, you're not the only one apparently. Count me amongst those who love and cherish cool/cold weather and curse at the heat!

Hot weather? Why? So I can go outside, and pretend I can tan?

Like most people here I much prefer the Winter months, or any time it is cool and raining outside.

I find the hot summer weather here stifling. It makes me feel restless, and lacking in energy.

The only thing I feel like doing is sitting in the pool or right in front of an air conditioner, with lots of cold drinks handy, sucking on an iceblock.

This is a Nordicist forum; I have a feeling most agree with you, and consider "baking hot" to be in the mid-80s F.

In Texas, of course, we don't have that luxury, so we rely on the white man's airconditioning. If you do have to move to Texas, hit the central area.

It is comfortable as long as you stay under the water all day and protect your skin. Then in the evening, you can clean your fish, lobsters, and crabs and have a feast while enjoying the warm, humid nights (or AC indoors). I suppose our family is unusual, as we always travel south during the summer and then travel north during the winter for :Skiing:.

I turned swarthy once after spending an entire summer spearfishing. My skin tans very slowly, but any skin that can tan at all will get darker after being exposed to the sun everyday.

I care more about the humidity than about the temperature. I can enjoy both hot and humid and cold and foggy, but I dislike dry air regardless of the temperature.

I do not think that dislike of heat is a racially Nordic trait, but more of a cultural one because most here (at tNP) have never adapted to it. I once spent a month at a summer camp in southern Florida with no AC. I felt sick for the first few days, but I eventually got used to it.
