What needs to be remembered, is that fish oil (usually made of cod) and fish liver oil (also made of cod), the thing that tastes disgusting, are 2 different things. The latter one which I think is more popular, is rich of vitamin D and which is necessary for us who live in the north during the winter time, because then it's impossible to get vitamin D is impossible to get from the sun, and vitamin D is necessary for the absorbtion of calcium. During the summertime all needed vitamin D should be gotten from the sun, by staying in the sun for less than half an hour on daily basis. In this case, I suppose, the lighter the skin is, the easier vitamin D absorbs...

Fish oil instead is the one that is rich in Omega 3. I don't use it right now, but I have tasted it, the taste is very mild and tastes like fat. But I use Omega 3 eggs and turnip rape oil in cooking. Olive oil is nothing compared to it...

Lŭsi (cod liver oil) also does contain Omega-3 but it is also possible to get certain types that have a higher Omega-3 content. My grandmother poured Lŭsi down my throat since I was an infant and I think it did me nothing but good.

Propably so I have used fish livel oil capsules, they don't taste anything but of course the smell can get up from the stomach...eyes:

During my childhood I had to eat so much fish that I got sick of it! Only recently I have started to eat it with pleasure, and I prefer greasy fish like vendace, salmon and whitefish (greasy fish contains more vitamin D and omega-3). Pike... still can't eat it yuk! I still refuse to eat pike soup, I hate it so much.

Of less fatty fish bass and pike-perch are eatable. I try to avoid fish from the Baltic Sea because it's quite polluted, but lake fish and salmon imported from Norway should be ok.

You can't go wrong with Salmon!!
Should the subduing talisman, the Cross, break, then will come roaring forth the wild madness of the old champions, that insane Berserker rage, of which the northern poets sing. That talisman is brittle, and the day will come when it will pitifully break. The old stone gods will rise from the long-forgotten ruin and rub the dust of a thousand years from their eyes; and Thor, leaping to life with his giant hammer, will crush the Gothic cathedrals!

    ---Heinrich Heine
