I did watch the Turtles and I liked it a lot... but it came a bit too late for me I'm afraid, and never cemented itself in my mind like He-Man, McG and KN... Transformers.. Hmm.. Did we even get Transformers on TV in the 80s? I don't think I saw a single episode if we did.. I DID however have quite a few of the toys, and even so much as I was dissapointed when the Minicons etc came, destroying the original concept to some degree.. I had some of the earliest Transformer comic books as well, back when Optimus was just a head inside the Ark.

    Trivia:
    Favorite turtle - Donatello
Favorite transformer - Optimus Prime/Grimlock/Blaster.. cant decide..

Yes I had the same feeling reading this thread. Having fond memories of TV shows that were showing 20 years ago, made me feel so ancient! :O

The good thing is that many of these shows are now being released on DVD, with lots of extra goodies! 'Allo 'Allo was one of my favourites, and you can purchase episodes from Time/Life I believe (I've seen TV ads for this on DVD, as well as 'Hogan's Heroes').

Some of my favourites from the 80's were: Punky Brewster, Gilligan's Island, The Dukes of Hazzard, Night Court, Alf, You can't do that on Television, Welcome Back Kotter, Young Ones, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, the Six Million Dollar Man, Wonder Woman. As for Children's cartoons, I used to love The Wacky Races, Penelope Pitstop, AstroBoy, and Battle of the Planets.

its strange, I have a friend who's 28 and he watched the show and praises it over the moon. I can't say I remember anything about it except that it was shot out of focus for that "soft" look and that there was the guy with the horns (Horned God, anyone)...

Yes, the Horned god and Herne the Hunter in Robin of Sherwood are pretty much the same entity. My avatar might even be from one of the RoS fan-sites, I'm not sure.

Herne is the English "Horned God" also called "John Goodfellow", his follwers were regarded with unease by the christians in medievil times. He represents the Male aspect of the forest and of nature in general, the male counterpart of the Earh Goddess.

I must say,I used to really like Robin of Sherwood, especially one of the later series where it developed quite a dark (for a family show) occult plot-line revolving around the struggle for possession of a magical golden crossbow bolt, the holder of which would rule the kingdom, as I recall.

In the final episode there were Templer Knights and a coven of Lucifer worshipers who carried their diabolical contracts on sheets of parchment which had to be kept intact of they would spontaiously combust! At one point Robin, who is no goody two shoes, actually damages one of the warlocks sheets of parchment beyond repair while interogating him. Finally there is a showdown in the Sheriffs castle with the evil high wizard of whatever he was... oh, but I shouldn't spoil it for you!

I don't know what it says for the show itself, but my most enduring memory of the series has to be the title tune which came on at the begining and end of every programme, It was by Clannad and it used to go:

Rooaaaaaabin * low ripple of Harp struming* the Hooded man *more harp*. (Repeated several times slowly).

It was really atmospheric. In hindsight, perhaps the best part of the whole programme.
Close observation may result in feelings of horror, wonder and awe at world you find yourself inhabiting.

I am pretty sure that the avatar of The Horned God is from Robin of Sherwood

Now, after watching the series a little bit, it is obvious that time had gilded the memory of that series. I also think the series would have required some remastering first before releasing it as dvd...: The quality of picture is quite poor.

Anyway I am happy that I bought the season 1, but I might reconsider about buying the season 2...

Do they give quantity discounts there? We have plenty of other "leaders" here we could send over.
