Garmarna_-_Herr_Mannelig.mp3
Description: Garmarna's awesome version of the Swedish Folk Song. This medieval ballad is known in many different versions and with different melodies to the lyrics. A mountain-troll falls in love with the handsome knight Sir Mannelig, and offers him all kinds of gifts if he will marry her. Sir Mannelig refuses since she is not, after all, a Christian and honourable woman.

Lyrics:
Svenska: Herr Mannelig
Bittida en morgon innan solen upprann
Innan foglarna började sjunga
Bergatrollet friade till fager ungersven
Hon hade en falskeliger tunga
|: Herr Mannelig herr Mannelig trolofven i mig
För det jag bjuder så gerna
I kunnen väl svara endast ja eller nej
Om i viljen eller ej
Eder vill jag gifva de gångare tolf
Som gå uti rosendelunde
Aldrig har det varit någon sadel uppå dem
Ej heller betsel uti munnen
Eder vill jag gifva de qvarnarna tolf
Som stå mellan Tillö och Ternö
Stenarna de äro af rödaste gull
Och hjulen silfverbeslagna
Eder vill jag gifva ett förgyllande svärd
Som klingar utaf femton guldringar
Och strida huru I strida vill
Stridsplatsen skolen i väl vinna
|: Herr Mannelig herr Mannelig trolofven i mig
För det jag bjuder så gerna
I kunnen väl svara endast ja eller nej
Om i viljen eller ej
Deutsch: Herr Mannelig
Einmal früh morgens vor Sonnenaufgang,
bevor der Vögel lied erklang
Machte die Bergtrollin dem Ritter einen Antrag
Sie sprach mit gespalltener Zunge.
|: Ritter Mannelig, Ritter Mannelig, bitte heirate mich
|: Ritter Mannelig, Ritter Mannelig, bitte heirate mich
Denn ich kann Dir alles geben
Deine Antwort kann nur "ja" sein oder "nein"
Wenn Du es so willst
English: Sir Mannelig
Early one morning before the sun did rise
And the birds sang their sweet song
The mountain troll proposed to the fair squire
She had a false deceitful tongue
|: Sir Mannelig, Sir Mannelig won`t you marry me
For all that I`ll gladly give you
You may answer only yes or no
Will you do so or no
To you I will give the twelve great steeds
That graze in a shady grove
Never has a saddle been mounted on their backs
Nor had a bit in their mouths
To you I will give the twelve fine mills
That stand between Tillo and Terno
The mill stones are made of the reddest brass
And the wheels are silver-laden
To you I will give the gilded sword
That jingles from fifteen gold rings
And strike with it in battle as you will
On the battlefield you will conquer
To you I will give a brand new shirt
The lustrous best for to wear
It is not sewn with needle or thread
But crocheted of the whitest silk
Gifts such as these I would gladly receive
If you were a Christian woman
But I know you are the worst mountain troll
From the spawn of Necken and the devil
The mountain troll ran out the door
She wailed and she shrieked so loudly
"Had I gotten that handsome squire
From my torment I would be free now"
|: Sir Mannelig, Sir Mannelig won`t you marry me
For all that I`ll gladly give you
You may answer only yes or no
Will you do so or no

This song is excellent!
Taake - Nattestid Ser Porten Vid
Nattestid I
Part 1
Den syvende tind er besteget
Den syvende port
Staar aapen i sin prakt
Vogtet og iakttatt
Av tiurens aarvaakte blikk
For veien er gullbelagt
Trollkatt ei sol har skapt
Jager vaaret
Oede vinters maaneskimm
Kjoelner sitt laken saa doedt
Dagen er kvelt
Natter er vores igjen
Og vanaere lurer
Bak hvert kaldt tre
Under de hatske fjells
Storkronede tinder
Gudfryktigt de var naa
Skammens lik
Over bjoergvin graater himmelrik
Tro og frender
Til kirkegaard baeres
Vond tid venter naer
Paa dem som stirret seg blinde
For aa se gud

Ooo rock me Amadeus
Rock me Amadeus...
Rock rock rock rock me Amadeus
Rock me all the time to the top
Er war ein Punker
Und er lebte in der großen Stadt
Es war Wien, war Vienna
Wo er alles tat
Er hatte Schulden denn er trank
Doch ihn liebten alle Frauen
Und jede rief: Come on and rock me Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, oh oh oh Amadeus
Er war Superstar
Er war populär
Er war so exaltiert
Because er hatte Flair
Er war ein Virtuose
War ein Rockidol
Und alles rief:
Come on and rock me Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, oh oh oh Amadeus
Come on and rock me Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, oh oh oh Amadeus
Es war um 1780
Und es war in Wien
No plastic money anymore
Die Banken gegen ihn
Woher die Schulden kamen
War wohl jedermann bekannt
Er war ein Mann der Frauen
Frauen liebten seinen Punk
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, oh oh oh Amadeus
Come and rock me Amadeus....
Baby baby do it to me rock me

Falco (1957-1998)
![]()
If early '80s pop smelled of cheese, Falco was Gouda.
Western television abounds in cheese: early MTV-era music videos, the original Batman series, and any and all British science fiction dramas. Lacking in quality but gutsy enough to go out there anyway and try to capture your affection. Gotta love 'em. And you've got to love Falco.
Born Johann Holzel in 1957, he left his native Austria for West Berlin in the mid '70s, playing bass for rock, jazz, and punk bands. After borrowing the name Falco from an East German skier, he headed back to Vienna and embarked on a solo career in which he made a name for himself by rapping in German to your standard Euro-disco. One of his early successes was "Der Komissar," a dance club favorite reminiscent of "Super Freak" which was later to become an even bigger hit in the hands of English-speaking one-hit-wonders After the Fire. After seeing the success of After the Fire's bilingual cover - the song made the top ten in the US - Falco embraced English and had a pair of bilingual international hits with cheese-classics "Vienna Calling" and "Rock Me Amadeus." The guy had enough cajones to declare - in the song - that his release of "Rock Me Amadeus" was among the more notable events associated with the life of fellow Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

hahaha! That song rules Nordhammer! All the songs posted so far in this thread are great!
I envision a world where people dawning long white robes and elaborate headdresses run rampant down the streets, waving their arms in the air while screaming "we've gone mad, we've gone mad", like defrocked monks breaking the silence of ages past.
Spoonblade: Sharper than a knife and twice as deadly.
From my younger, romantic days.
Foreigner - I Wanna Know What Love Is
I’ve gotta take a little time
A little time to think things over
I’d better read between the lines
In case I need it when I’m older
Ooooh, this mountain I must climb
Feels like the world upon my shoulder
But through the clouds I see loves shine
It keeps me warm as life grows colder
In my life there’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know if I can face it again
Can’t stop now I’ve travelled so far
to change this lonely life
I wanna know what love is, I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is, I know you can show me, oooh
I’m gonna take a little time
A little time to look around me
I’ve got nowhere left to hide
It looks like love has finally found me
In my life, there’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know if I can face it again
I can’t stop now
I’ve travelled so far,
To change this lonely life
I wanna know what love is, I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is, I know you can show me
I wanna know what love is, I want you to show me
And I wanna feel, I wanna feel what love is
And I know , I know you can show me
Let’s talk about love
I wanna know what love is, love that you feel inside
I want you to show me
And I’m feeling so much love
I wanna feel what love is, No you just can’t hide
I know you can show me
I wanna know what love is
Let’s talk about love
I know you can show me
I wanna feel it, I wanna feel what love is
I wanna feel it too
And I know and I know
I know you can show me
Show me that it’s real
I wanna know what love is
I wanna know, I want you to show me

Formed in 1976, the band was made up of experienced British musicians Mick Jones and Ian McDonald, and four relative newcomers to the arena of major rock, British musician Dennis Elliott, and Americans Ed Gagliardi, Lou Gramm and Alan Greenwood. Less than a year after getting together, the five released their first album "Foreigner" [March 7, 1977] and within months had two top-ten hit singles.
And another...
Foreigner - That Was Yesterday
I thought I knew you well
But all this time I could never tell
I let you get away
Haunts me every night and every day
You were the only one
The only friend I counted on
How could I watch you walk away
I'd give anything to have you here today
But now I stand alone with my pride
And dream that you're still by my side
But that was yesterday
I had the world in my hands
But it's not the end of my world
Just a slight change of plans
That was yesterday
But today life goes on
No more hiding in yesterday
'Cause yesterday's gone, ooooh!
Love, my love I gave it all
Thought I saw the light, when I heard you call
Life that we both could share
Has deserted me, left me in despair
But now I stand alone with my pride
Fighting back the tears I never let myself cry
But that was yesterday
Love was torn from my hands
But it's not the end of my world
Just a little hard to understand
That was yesterday
But today life goes on
You won't find me in yesterday's world
Now yesterday's gone
Goodbye yesterday
Now it's over and done
Still I hope somewhere deep in your heart
Yesterday will live on, ooooh!
