What is your thoughts on tanning? The reason I ask is I was met with a picture of an extremely tanned woman on the comcast homepage. Apparently, she is in the Miss America pageant. I mean, she looks White, but the skin tone is that of an amerindian. To me, it looks unnatural and therefore unappealing.
This is the second time something has caught my eye on the Comcast site (it's my ISP) and then I've seen it here later that day. The first one was the feature on interracial relationships.
Anyway, I saw that image for the first time about 3 minutes ago on the Comcast site (what a huge coincidence). I had the exact same thought: how could such a nice looking white woman let her skin get that bronze? She's going to end up looking like a wrinkly-old hag.
I am sure tanning is harmful, and I prefer the pinkish-white skin.
I don't like it when people goto those Fake-n-bake tanning beds, don't they know that they are much worse for your skin than natural sunlight... And don't they know that a tan is basically damaged skin?
Answer: "I don't care. As long as I look good right now."

Exactly. They are esentially cooking their skin. Why do they think they lose their tan.

A tan is just burn damaged skin,I do have a tan now but that's becouse i whent cyprus.
Whether by bed or by baking in the sun it just does not look right. Some people are better at regulating the exposure than others, some people tan until they destroy their skin. Isn't there a big movement gearing up right now in the prevention of skin cancer again? Healthcare providers realize what will happen in the near future as these tarts age, it will be similar to cigarettes and lung cancer. I can understand a man that works all day outside and gets a natural tan and I can even respect that because its part of putting food on the table for his children, but the other computer geek who spends 8 minutes twice a week microwaving his skin to look like a bloody field worker that needs a smack to the back of his head. Very frustrating and people look at you funny for suggesting that they don't look right when tanned.:
I prefer my women fair as the snow that falls in the North. But a little summer tan doesn't hurt either.
If your a Nord and are mistaken for a Med that is when you know you've gone overboard with your tan.
Tanning is definitely harmful, and sufficient damage potentially causes skin cancer. The less skin melanin you have the more you should take care to not get too much sun. Studies show that lower amounts of UV radiation taken constantly are more harmful than people who rarely get sun but sometimes overdose and burn, so the only safety is to limit your exposure to UV radiation and don't tan.
I spend time in the yard so I get enough sun exposure to give me "color" in my skin without getting tanned.
