Is it common to burn runes at the celebrations? The only thing that I've seen similar is cross lighting here in the US. I would normally consider burning a rune disrespectful, but it makes some sense to me considering that we wish to be placed atop a pyre. :

In Germany, the festival differently is formed. The combustion of runes is there only one of many possibilities. Runes may burn one not as disrespectful see. The festival of the solstice is a festival of the light and the greeting the same. The combustion of a rune is there rather more only an event what is perceived at the edge. In the midpoint, the suns turning point fire or also the fires of wheels which are rolled the mountain down stands.

Shouldn't be considered cross buring or rune burning but rather the illumination of the cross or rune.
