Question Bertil Lundman's Cranium Height/Body Height Index

Bertil Lundman had his era by consolidating importance into the measurements by term called "Cranium height/height index"

this is measured from the neck hole to the cranium top, in percent of its length:

    cranium height x100
    -------------------------
    cranium

I wanna hear your views or commentary on this measurement please.

What's the neck hole?? Tell me that and I can measure mine.....
What's the significance of the measurement? Are there racial implications to it or......?

In technical terms it's called (SNPA):
    ----
    FORAMEN MAGNUM

The main opening at the base of the skull through which the brain is connected to the major nerves of the body.
    ----

It is where the spine connects to the skull.

Yes, some races, such as Dinarics, are high-headed, whilst others, such as Mediterraneans, are low-headed. Generally speaking, Eastern Europeans are high, and Westerners are low.

    Relativly!

Btw, auricular height of ancient classical Nordics (Hallstatt) must be HLI 66, and for Gota type Lundman states 68-69, for Troender - 71-72.

Mine is 75, but Troenders have 130, and I have 150+mm.

So we shall pay attention rather to absolute parameters.

Dinarics and Baltics have lesser heights than Troenders but they're even shorter skulled... they heights are even smaller than heights of Western Nordics, it seems.

So you measure from the neck hole to the top of the cranium? If this is correct, then I got 142mm (take into account slight margin of error). Would that be high skulled or low skulled?

Can you still measure auricular height if you don't have any calipers handy?

I've measured from the top of my ear hole to the top of my head.

    AURICULAR HEAD HEIGHT (v-po)

Measured on the right and left sides of the head using a double sliding caliper and a level.

    So it's V - PO

I've fixed the calipers on a wall! lols

If they're strictly vertical - the margin of error is always negative.

Why did you measure from the top of the ear hole rather than from the center? Is this the standard?

I don't know, really. For the length I decided to take the min. figure, for breadth - max. (to be sure that my CI is no more than...), so as I wasn't aware how to measure height I decided to make the min. figure too.
