My opinion doesn't change about somebody just because the person happens to be deceased. The ex of a ladyfriend of mine killed himself, that didn't change my oppinion that he was destructive for himself and those around him. Actually; his suicide somewhat gave me some respect for the fellow, because arguably it was a relief from the shitty life he lived, with mental illness etc.

She respected my thoughts on the matter more than all the mourners in it for the ride.

It depends on the person who died. A good person who dies no one talks shit about. People who talk shit about a good person is most likely bastards. And they should be punished. Everyone talks shit about bastards...

their lives are judged by how they lived and what they did. how does death change anyone's opinion of the person.....if they die and you change your turn your just being a hypocrite

Being dead should not relieve one of being criticized. And when a person did things which make him an idiot, he should still be called an idiot for that, even when he is dead. Not being able to do this means that we can't learn from history. How can we learn from mistakes that previous people made, if we aren't allowed to speak of their wrongdoing?

This is so true...its just about drawing that fineline between dancing on someones grave and telling the truth.

It depends on the context. If someone has just passed away and I have a poor opinion on them but I must attend the funeral, I will be silent out of politeness and consideration towards the freshly bereaved family. However in a casual conversation with someone else, if something comes up and I know it's not true/right, I will make my point known. Historical and political figures and generally public figures are ok to discuss and exempt from this principle of silence. Otherwise we might as well shut down criticism of history, since everyone before us has died.

No, that's a frustration that comes out of love and missing them, I'm sure they'd understand...

I think it's polite to be respectful towards the dead, unless it's some public person and murderer like Stalin, Mao etc.
With ordinary people, I don't use any colourful language.
